If people want to be in then they should opt in rather than those that don't want to be in having to opt out.

I still think that ebid should either be just a venue or more than a venue all the time.

The main thing is there is already the optional feedback request. Thats what makes no sense. Those that want to chance feedback, simply go to the AAL and request the feedback.

What is the difference between a user manually requesting feedback and the system doing it automatically. the simple answer is those that want the automated system simple cannot be bothered to do it them selfs. If they could be bothered to do it them selfs, do they think that people will leave feedback from a system generated email? if they also could be bothered then why would they request a automated system?

What would be good to know is
    a) how many feedbacks are never left
    b) how many feedback request are sent
    c) what %age of feedback request get the desired feedback

I do not believe for one nano secound that this automated system is a good idea.

Gazza I want you to opt me out.

That doesn't bother me, it's a trivial detail in my view. I'll be quite happy to untick a box if they'd provide one. Pretty please? And I don't think terms like "can't be bothered" is quite fair - if people see a benefit in sending regular reminders, then I can't blame them for preferring that to be automated. I prefer the integrated invoice system, and that's not because I "can't be bothered" sending invoices from outside, it's just more efficient.

Just looking for a happy ending now.

Kimbo, may be cannot be bothered is a bit strong, but the logic behind it seems to be that newbies are the ones requesting it, not that I have ever seen a post on the forums that have requested it. Yes I know that they can email admin, but if it was in such demand then I would have expected a few post here & there on the boards.

Yes I want a happy ending, but unless the optional tick box is not given then I simply do not see a happy ending, all I see is people ending on eBid and eBid being treated as spammers.

I don't like the idea, but I would not leave eBid over it.

Ditto - I have drawn a couple of people over to buy items from the other side. They have made their purchase, and not returned (to my knowledge anyway.) - I would not want them to start receiving what would be seen as spam as that would have an adverse affect on them.

I would not leave Ebid over this policy though. I want to opt out.

I think feebay send emails after about 30 days, if one has not left feedback for an item purchased, to ask if there was a problem and if no problem then a link to leave feedback.

Amazon do send an email after about 30 days asking to leave feedback.

I see no problem with eBid sending one email after 30 days asking for feedback. But only one and only after 30 days.

It was a bad idea. I was the first to post on it and say so. The reaction by some was not deserved in my opinion. Yes, people were justified in slating the idea but the pulling of listing, closing of shops and threats to move elsewhere were not. eBid were not given the courtesy of the chance to respond to users concerns. I believe on past performance they should have been. As you will now have seen Gazza has responded positively in less than a few hours of becoming aware that users were not happy with the change. That is pretty much as I expected and would have thought other users would have expected as well. I feel the eBid team have been done a disservice by some of the OTT reactions

As I put forward earlier (in this thread or one of the others on the subject) the change was user driven. People had asked for the facility but no one had stated they didn't want it. So eBid provided what the users asked for - based on the information they had.

eBid do a pretty good job of listening to the users and tailoring the system to those user's wishes. It is not practical for them to do a poll of every user on every thing that happens to the system development. That way lies the road to madness.

True, but why not consult people (their customers) before making such a sweeping change in the first place
    As above.

For you maybe, for me maybe not. I'm pretty fed up of seeing the same pattern emerge time and again whenever a 'site change' is made.
I don't know what 'pattern' you refer to. As I said - I find eBid very user driven.

Now, 30 days auto feedback request is a good idea, as long as it's only the one time.

Strangely enough , feedback is usually what I go on to buy . The more feedback , the happier I feel about buying
