Sales are a lot slower, but then the cost is a lot lot less. There are no hidden extras, but you do need a bit of time to read what is included and something a lot of people don't seem to take on board is that a subscription is a recurring payment till you cancel it. The only exception is the liftime+ ...a one off payment. And in (not only) my opinion well worth it. And don't necessarily quit everywhere else. Just do the move gradually. And tell everyone where they can find you. There are lots of help threads in the forum - well worth a read
As for security: I don't know, but I have not had any problems

It would depend on what you are selling!

Seriously, If you are a business, and depend on the income, you would find that AT THE MOMENT it might be best to list here as well as over there, so your fees at least are reduced while you 'test it out' over here.

Sales are a lot slower here, so it's best to keep selling over there and letting your customers know about eBid. You can email all your previous customers by accessing your PayPal records, and also put a flyer in with all the packages you send out. You can have up to 5 stores over here at no extra cost, so it's well worth setting up.

I'm getting, on average 2 a month at the moment, but the vast majority of my books have a somewhat less than adequate description from being bulk uploaded directly from elsewhere - where there is already a description and sometimes a picture on the site. I always reply to requests for a picture and more information, but inevitably it puts people off.

I'm going with storing up auctions here and doing most of the selling on the other site, with sometimes transferring auctions to a third (and hugely expensive) site if I need or want to sell something in a hurry. I did that with a bulk lot of books I needed to part company from quickly, so I advertised here for a week (no takers) and then sold them for more (to cover the fees) on the other site.

Lots of sellers have items for sale here at less than the price they have listed elsewhere (all mine, except the penny books, have had all of the fees from the postage removed and are cheaper here if they are listed elsewhere - unless I've repriced on the other site, which doesn't happen often, and mostly goes up rather than down). I'm about to raise all the prices of my penny books to 50p in response to the new postage charges, so that will make eBid books a bargain. I don't expect it to do anything to sales on either site.

I think the general feeling is don't stop selling elsewhere, just add eBid to your selling platforms, because no one is going to make a living just on here.

Hi Shaun and welcome to eBid. as others have said it is a lot slower on eBid than on feebay. I came over here in February and paid the 49.99 for seller + Lifetime, best move I ever made., I also had a store on the otherside and also was a power seller with 100% feedback but it was costing a fortune in fees etc. Although slow to start I have been averaging 25 to 30 sales a monrth since September so it is picking up nicely ( lots of patience needed ) it was slow in december but have made 8 sales this month so buyers are here. I have 4 stores and over 1200 listings and with using gallery picture my monthly fees are never more than £3.00. That is good Business sense. Before you start listing, read around the forums and also eBids T&C,s that way you won,t get caught out. I now no longer sell on Feebay. Good luck

Like most of the others have said, Ebid is great to have a store on with the very low fees; it is, however, very slow in sales and you do need (in my opinion) to keep selling elsewhere too. You also need to keep promoting your Ebid store everywhere you can.

The key point is that Ebid does not have the visitor rate that Feebay still does, in this respect, Feebay is still King.

However, as Ebid grows even larger and words gets out even wider, if you already have a store here you are then well placed to reap the benefits.

There are a lot of auction/BIN sites out there now - I list on Feebay still but I closed my postcard store there and brought it here, on the seller plus programme, which I am glad I did. I regard it as an investment for the future ..... but certainly not something that is reaping benefits just yet I must admit. So I split my cards - some are still on Feebay and the US and Canadian cards are on an American site. I tell everyone who buys from me about my Ebid store and I also have a website (a free one) that tells readers where I sell. I list on Everyplaceisell.com to do the same thing. It is these types of things that constitute the hard work everyone needs to put in to pull in buyers.... we cannot just open a store and sit back and wait for them, it doesn't happen like that.

So the moral of the story is to not keep all eggs in one basket - sell elsewhere as well as Ebid.... and spread the word about Ebid with each transaction you make on other sites.

    Hope this helps.
