I have a load of knitting books and patterns here - IF I can find a pattern for one, I may be able to knit one up for you. I also have lots of yarns / wools. It shouldn't be too difficult to do.

Hi Smiffy!
Sorry to hear things are tough, I'll send kind thoughts your way.
I knitted a few of those for my mom and they worked well. Before I had them, what was handy for us was what we call either a "throw" or a "lap rug" in these parts. Essentially a one-meter by one-meter blanket, which you can then fold in half into a triangle and either tuck around your mom from the front or back, whatever suits the need.
