Catching them is the easy part. Getting the courts to do anything effective with them is the hard part.

The age of criminal responsibility needs to be lowered and the parents held responsible for the activities of their children below that age.

All law is based on the fear of repercussions. When there ceases to be repercussions then law ceases also.

omg Shelly, what a frightening thing to happen, glad they missed you hun. Hope the Police do find them for you, this mindless vandalism is getting so commonplace these days, its very sad. Like you say, they could have killed you

I like the idea of an island, ship them out there with a shovel and some seeds, if you don't want to starve better get digging. Forcing them to fend for themselves would be a good lesson, if they follow their usual "world owes me a living" attitude then they can starve to death and save society the trouble they cause.

Last night I was really shook up as no exaggeration it was a close call. I had planned to read my emails and then I was going to sit down and watch CSI Lucky it didn't happen 5 mins later otherwise I would have been sat directly under the window rather than at the side of it

I don't think this is down to 10 yr olds, more likely the junkies that go up and down the street to visit the flats up the top of the road. As our house is on a slope we are raised, so the window is at least 6 foot off ground level it would have to be someone fairly tall to get the angle right. It's not as if they did it to gain access, just mindless vandalism.

No sign of Forensics yet, I know they have better things to do than attend a smashed window but this could have had really serious consequences. I am just glad the kids were in bed when it happened. Jon was out working, I was the only one here at the time.
There are some rotten Ba****d* out there.
It must have been so frightening being alone with the kids when it happened.
    I'm glad you're ok though.

I had a brick put through my window when we lived at our last place.

I was out at the time (luckily) but my next door neighbour saw who did it.

I called the police and my neighbour told them what they had seen and the police went to the lad's house.

The mum said it wasn't the lad that had been seen doing it as he had been home all day so the police didn't do anything about it.

    I'm relieved you weren't hurt though... <<<<<<hugs>>>>

VERY sorry to hear about your scare/startle, Shelley. Had something similar happen to me about 20 years ago and it makes you feel ill at ease until a permanent fix is completed. In my case it was a rock so maybe you're lucky yours was a bowl, plus it was thrown in these more "advanced" times investigation wise. Even if the perp isn't prosecuted, it will at least be interesting if somebody finds out who it was.

Best wishes to you and pamper yourself a little now.

Glad to hear you are OK. Could a person install one of those dummy video camara's? They look like the real thing and are cheap. Also a motion sensor light is always a good thing. Yes until kids actually get punished, it will not stop.
