Big Garden Birdwatch Weekend

Did my count this moring around 8.30 am

Garden was quite busy and fortunately all the usual suspects turned up - Blackbird, Blue Tit, Collared Dove, Dunnock, Goldfinch, House Sparrow, Robin, Wren , Woodpigeon, Wren & Crow!

The only regulars to have a lie in and not appear were Greenfinches and great Tits

I had thought of doing it...

However, my young cat Nellie has disgraced me!

She presented me yesterday afternoon with a (very) freshly-killed bullfinch - I wasn't aware that we had any nearby - they are on the RSPB 'Red' list!!!!

Spent the rest of the afternoon feeling ashamed for him.

We get them in our garden occaisionally - they are really sweet

Tried to get to RSPB website to download/cheque the form, but can't get there - possibly because of the "birdwatching weekend".
Used to do this with sons every year when they were smaller, but not participated for a few years. Are you supposed to submit the maximum number of each species that you have seen at any one time during your hour of birdwatching?
If I'd realized it was this weekend, I would have taken a bit longer over my lunch - garden was full of birds at lunchtime and I actually spent time watching them!
