Thread: Descriptions in auctions are unreadable

    Unhappy Descriptions in auctions are unreadable

    This was reported in a previous thread and hasn't been fixed yet.

    I had to close three auctions when I realized they were unreadable. I tried to fix them in edit mode, and it won't change this formatting. The entire description ends up in a thin column. So I closed them and started over. I'll leave them in my unsold list in case anyone decides to fix this.

    I managed to get one added again, it looks fine. Then, my second and third tries came out with the messed up description again. These look fine when I'm adding the auctions, it doesn't show up until after I submit them. I had to delete them and give up. Until this is reported as being fixed, I don't see any point in trying to add new auctions.

    Here are the three auctions I closed:
    1222220208-28368-0
    1222189929-20807-0
    1222187130-19926-0

    The problem is the width of the table cell containing the description.

    Do you use tables in creating your listings or type purely into the default editor box?

    Are you using a template?

    This is your problem,
    your cell width is set to 10,
    I looked at a couple of your other listings & they don't use tables.
    Code:

    <table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" border="0">
        <tr>
         <td><P><FONT face="times new roman,times"><TD bgcolor="#ffffff" width="10"><FONT size=3>&nbsp;&nbsp;<STRONG>1999P Connecticut </STRONG><STRONG>Colorized State Quarter</STRONG></FONT></FONT></P>
    To save redoing them, either edit the width out, or change it to something wider. If fixed the description area is 940 pixels wide, or you could go with a %

    I start with one of the auctions currently listed (and with everything formatted properly) and use the "List Similar" button. I use the WYSIWYG editor to make the changes.

    I'll take a look at one of the good ones using the HTML editor, and one of the messed up ones and try to figure it out.

    Aha! Figured it out and fixed one of them. I don't know how the TD line got in there, it appears the editor inserted it for some reason. It's not in the auction I copied it from. So, I just deleted it. Strange bug, though.

    Now that I know how to fix this when it happens, I can live with it. Thanks for all your help.

    If you've got a definite chain of events now, as in "you do this and this and this, and this happens" it would be worth sending that to support@ebid.tv so they can investigate - you're bound not to be the only poor soul to suffer from it!
