Railwayana

There seems to be 2 categories with Railwayana. Collectables/Railwaylia currently with 79 items + 1 store and Collectables/Transportation/Railwayana currently with 446 items + 4 stores under Transportation. I don’t know what the difference was meant to be but they seem to have similar items listed in them. Might be worth considering combining these into a single category; if so I would suggest keeping Collectables>Transportation>Railwayana as it has the most items and it seems more logical to be grouped under Transportation. Obviously others may have a view in particular the store owner in Collectables/Railwaylia. Cheers, Tony

I think the 'Collectables>railwaylia' is perhaps there by mistake?

What we need is:-

Collectables > Transportation > Railways/Railroad
Collectables > Transportation > Bus & Coach
Collectables > Transportation > Road haulage
Collectables > Transportation > Trams and tramways
Collectables > Transportation > Canals
Collectables > Transportation > Shipping
Collectables > Transportation > Motorcycles
Collectables > Transportation > Bicycles
Collectables > Transportation > Ephemera
Collectables > Transportation > Other

This would make searches much easier, as it is at present a very big category.

I think ephemera shouldn’t be split out and should be under the relevant category, ie if it is railway ephemera it should be listed under Railways/Railroad. This is to avoid having to look in 2 places for one area of interest.

Agricultural/Industrial is needed for traction engines, industrial engines etc. Aeronautica should be retained as it is the 2nd biggest area under transportation.

That would revise JudesNiceThings suggestion to:

Collectables > Transportation > Aeronautica
Collectables > Transportation > Railways/Railroad
Collectables > Transportation > Bus & Coach
Collectables > Transportation > Road haulage
Collectables > Transportation > Trams and tramways

Agree about ephemera - was thinking mainly in terms of posters, tickets, timetables, menus etc .

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I was not aware there are now 2 almost identical categories for railwayana. The one I am in (collectables/railwaylia) is the only one that I saw when I set everything up a year ago now, perhaps the other one was added since or perhaps I just missed it back then.

I would be happy to have all my items listed in the other category along with the other 4 stores as, like you say, it would make more sense to have everything all in the same place. However, it took me several days to originally set all this up so unless ebid are going to automatically transfer it all for me then I don't know if I will have the time to do it all again. Ebid's editor tends to randomly screw up your text when you try to change a simple thing meaning it can take me several goes to relist each item.

Also, there is a third category that I use for non-railway photographs which is "Collectables/Photographic Images/Photographs/Transport", so in theory all my railway items could go in there instead. Where do the possible permutations on this end?

I know exactly what Clive (Happy Hen) means re transferring lots of items. It looks like we have agreement provided eBid can address the difficulty in transferring items from the old Collectables>Railwaylia category to Collectables>Transportation> Railwayana. Tony

We await Gazza to determine whether these 2 categories can be combined and if so whether eBid can bulk transfer the existing approx 80 items in Collectables/Railwaylia to Collectables/Transportation/Railwayana
