Eyes are precious so you want to make sure you get the best lenses, I'm afraid I have no faith in Specsavers after they fitted a varifocal lens in mine slightly offline. I had a problem for over a year until a local optician did a check on them. Specsavers insisted they had got it right. I bought new glasses from the independent optician and have never had a problem since.

If Babyfair wants, she can always borrow my spare pair.

Not sure if laser treatment works when you have an astigmatism

    you would have to enquire.

I have a lenticular astigmatism and had to wear weighted contact lenses that is why they are more expensive

    Hope you get sorted xxx

If your optician has advised against laser there may be a good reason, apart from him losing custom if you did. Maybe try and eyetest at a different opticians and ask them for a second opinion. Eyes are something that you cannot mess with, also be very careful with the contact lenses, make sure she isn't using them for too long as that can cause more problems than it's worth.

My mum has arthritis which has robbed her of her sight and at the age of 46 it came as quite a shock, as a family we have all become more aware of how much we rely on our eyes.

Specsavers are useless, or at least the one I went to for my last pair are.
They did exactly the same as they did for Fossy and misaligned the varifocal lenses. And then insisted that I could see perfectly well with the new glasses and that I didn't know what I was talking about and they knew best, as if they could see through my eyes and I couldn't
They eventually admitted they had the prescription wrong and replaced them. But only after I insisted they did another eye test when they finally said sorry, they were wrong and I was right.

They are less interested in your eyesight and more interested in how much money can they get out of you

The cost of spectacles is scandalous IMO

The independent optician I go to is excellent, if not a little expensive, but they certainly know their stuff. When I go for an eye test I get the full works, and my optician is a lovely young Italian (I think) lady. Phwor - dont mind paying the bill when she sorts my eyes out.

Had laser surgery 4-5 yrs, ago (am 60 now). Bothered me a little longer than most folks, but was great. Got a big head (literally!) and had a hard time getting any glasses to fit correctly. Now don't need them. Have noticed some gradual degradation, but this is because of age. Would do it again if needed.
