Thread: Who ships world wide?

I flag up all of my items for delivery to all of Ebid countries.

I just work out the european and worldwide airmail cost and pop it on the listing - simple really

However, I do appreciate that 99.9% of my items are books and are failrly simple to package up and send.

My view is that is someone is happy to pay the overseas postage (and it can be rather high with heavy books) then they are extremely welcome to purchase my books.

We highly recommend selling world wide. What a lot of sellers need to realize is that most buyers who buy international are well aware of the fact that the shipping time is going to be slower and the cost of postage will be higher. It also helps to mention the details in your listings.

We love our international buyers and have been selling that way for years.

    Best of Luck!

    Thanks!
Again, Good Luck with it! I think it also depends on how they pay which will provide extra security against fraud. Also if you obtain certificate of posting / offer insurance etc that would help against scams.

Rest assured that the UK have their fair share of untrustworthy (& untraceable) people and UK is not that small really!

I think that if you are given an opportunity to ship overseas, then I would accept it - it increases your chance of sales.

If there are any countries that you would prefer not to ship to because of fear of being scammed etc then you do have the option not to opt to ship to that area by not checking / ticking the box adjacent to that country.
If you would rather just ship to the english speaking countries, then select those.

what sort of price do you guys and girls charge I sell clothing so although not heavy some items can be bulky. I know the one time I did ship abroad just to use sign for airmail it was £4.50 before it even hit the scales
Invest in a set of scales, remember to add something to the weight for packaging (or weigh with packaging), then use the Royal Mail or Seajays http://www.seajays.org.uk/postage/index.cfm? websites to work out the cost.

You can get a leaflet from the Post Office called PRICING MADE EASY, that gives you UK and International rates of postage. The overseas rates basically go up in 20g increments instead of the 250g UK increments. Get yourself some scales and you can work it out in seconds! But don’t get caught out, leaflet doesn’t say when it gets to 2Kg the formula in the leaflet doesn’t work, it goes sky high, so ALWAYS take heavy parcels down to the Post Office to double check! We’ve had no problems shipping internationally on the whole. Italy CAN be tricky due to their erratic postal system, as can Canada, for pretty much the same reason (having said that we’ve only actually had one parcel disappear, somewhere in Italy it took a bizarre detour). We don’t post to China, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, but that’s just our personal choice. Blessings Sharon

But i would like to start selling overseas on ebid, the other reason i haven't is because i haven't got around to it yet, and each time i list something new here, i forget to work out the overseas postage.

We sold quite a few things from our GreedBay store to overseas buyers. We never received bad feedback for slow shipping. We always sent an email telling them the date the item was shipped, and the method, and they understood that delivery might be slow.

We weigh the package and used calculated postage whenever possible for U.S. shipping, so it's easy to use the same method for international buyers. Saves a lot of work when postage rates go up, and the buyers know we're not charging too much, that it's the actual amount that will have to be paid.

Call me stupid I know you are thinking it

When you say scales do you mean normal ones or some sort of franking machine?

Thanks for all the advice I have now done it so I have a mix of both now I just need to work out the postage as not to over/under charge.

I just use my digital kitchen scales switched to grams.

Then I check out the Royal Mail website for the airmail prices to which ever country I want to send to - diiferent rates for Euope and Rest of the World. Also slightly different for printed papers. The table on the Royal Mail website is very clear and simple to use

    http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/c...2&catId=400036

Remember to add a little bit onto the weight to allow for packaging.

Then you know exactly how much it should be when you go to the post office

I have now made my own database (just in excel) so I can look up a weight and know what the postage value will be allowing for packaging too - saves no end of time
