Smile Nostalgic Info. Coin in card gift items Research all memories welcomed!

    Hello Everyone
***Update if anyone has received a wedding day lucky sixpence card pre 1996 then please let me know, thank you Heather***
Please feel free to email or message me as I am collating lot's of instances of Family and Friend's Coin Card Gift Items over the years. I do know the victorians sent coins in cards for special occasions as my Grandma born in 1901 told me the tales of Silver threepence or sixpence and shilling if you where lucky!. I myself in the 1960's received many coin gifts in cards and remember vividly a Churchill Crown in 1965 commemerating Churchill's passing and was sent to me by an Uncle and I was well pleased as it looked so large. This is what triggered me off making and selling coin cards taking over from my Dad in the 1980's.

So... Enough of me I would be delighted to hear about the dates of any coin card gifts made or even sellotaped coins on cards to build up a History! This may help my explore my Ebid customers expectations and also a nostalgic record of who received what coin gift in a card!

1965 is the earliest to start with!!

    Kind Regards Heather

A quick update and thanks for the emails please keep them coming!. In 1966 lucky sixpences dated 1966 where stuck with Bostick glue to Xmas cards in celebration of winning the world cup! Also in the late 1800's and early 1900's Mourning cards have been reported sent to Widows with a coin affixed as a donation to help financially and affluent senders would send an half or full gold sovereign wax sealed to the card!
