A very useful, and timely, reminder blue of what a wonderful Community eBid is
    *gives thumbs up sign*

Would we openly criticise Marks & Spencer, say, for promoting a product at a very 'special' offer price in one of their stores south of the border and not up here in t'North............ where it's grim ! It's all about 'target markets' these days *sighs*

*not that she can afford M&S .........., was just generalising*

Good luck with your auctions anyway, BBDC and welcome to eBid

Solution: (posted with tongue firmly in cheek.. literally.. dentures still soaking..)

    1) buy plane ticket to JFK Airport
    2) Book cheap hotel
    3) open bank account using hotel address
    4) sign up at ebid with U.S. address, using U.S. Dollars
    5) close bank account (or not - might come in handy)
    6) fly back to U.K.
    7) change address of new account "Opps, I moved to U.K."
    8) Pat self on back for saving 15 quid.. and break arm while doing so
    9) end up running around to 6 different hospitals trying to get arm fixed
    10) by time Doctor gets to look at it, arm has already set (sans cast) and on the mend.
    11) Drive home cussing out the British medical institution
    12) Log on to Ebid and brag about how you saved 15 quid.. (or not..)

    hehehe

I read somewhere that the $49.99 is for the first 20,000 US members who take the offer. Then it goes up to $99.99. Just a special to get more US members.
Wonder how close they are to the mark?

rofl..... what did i start lol.

Thanks everyone for replying and for making me laugh.

Understand a little better now, but still think we are getting shafted.

Don't get me wrong, still consider it to be much better long term value than the "Darkside" where I've just come from, especially as ebid do seem to be spreading out across the world.

Had actually read somewhere where you could in theory set up a U.S. bank account from overhere in limey land, but it just seems too much hassle, let alone devious.

I actually sell as many items in the U.S. and worldwide as I do in jolly old England (Scotland, Ireland & Wales), a future franchise might be an option.

Anyhoo, thanks everyone for such a warm welcome, I like what I see so far, have started to bulk me uploads (ooh err) & heres to ecommerce, cheers.

We signed up as for seller+ as soon as we decided to join the eBid community. My understanding was that this is a limited-time offer to give eBid a jumpstart here in the States, and it will double at some time in the future. I think it's working, there appear to be more people from the U.S. joining every day. This is a site none of us had heard of a year ago. I've only made a few sales, but they were all to U.S. buyers, so it appears the word is spreading.

I've noticed eBid gets very high rankings in Google. More variety being offered on eBid increases the number of potential new buyers through the search engines. If you are selling to the U.S., this is to your advantage.
