Thread: How to generate more sales here as ebay

I've just done my first listing on here (phew!) so now I'm having a break!

I'm still using feeBay, because that's where the people are at the moment. But I include a link to here in every package, & I'm going to use the email facility where you can email people who've signed up for your newsletters. I've thought about getting email addresses from PayPal to send all past buyers a plug for eBid, but I don't know if it would be classed as spam so I haven't dared! I'm going to try to fade out of feeBay as sales increase here, but we really need to keep plugging eBid as much as we possibly can. feeBay grew by word of mouth & it was mostly us that did the spreading, so now we have to tell EVERYONE about eBid! I saw an idea for bumper stickers on another discussion that I thought was cool... feeBay logo = sad face & eBid logo = smily face. There must be someone on here who can make vinyl stickers... all the sellers would buy one!

eBid is like feeBay used to be a few years ago... friendly & human with a real community spirit. I don't think it was really the size that spoilt feeBay, but now they've got shareholders to please it's not "ours" any more, it's "theirs".

I'm going to try another listing now... or maybe sort out photobucket... or google checkout... or PPPPPay... or just have a cup of tea! LOL

Thumbs up Read this to get an ebid confidence boost!

I still sell on feebay, cant afford not to yet as this is my full time job but I am desperately wanting to give it up due to all the changes

With the fee increases, everytime I relist now I am increasing my price by 26p.....so every £1.99 item is now £2.25 etc etc
I send between 10 and 20 parcels a day and every buyer gets a flyer telling them that I am now listing on here and why, I explain that feebay shop fees and fvfees have increased to ridiculous levels and I have had to increase prices accordingly. Then in bold red writing I tell them that on ebid because there are no fees I have dropped my prices,,,,£1.99 items are now only £1.85. On the back of the flyer is a sticker with EXCLUSIVE EBID OFFER, BUY ANY FOUR ITEMS CHOOSE A FIFTH ABSOLUTELY FREE!!!

I started listing on here a few months ago and yes sales are slow but have had enough sales now that my seller lifetime is paid for and am now in profit, and a lot of my sales are from my flyers....feebay customers. Everyone is feeling the pinch and if they think they can save a few pennies they will look elsewhere

I have also put a link to my ebid shop and a link to join on my emails with a message,,,,,,REDUCED PRICES

I have 350ish listings on feebay and my monthly fees are £100+,,,,,,my invoice for september on here was just over a fiver!!!

Sellers are leaving or increasing prices, I have been doing a daily count of personalised cards and until the new best match search came in numbers were dropping dramatically. Now I cant do it as the search isnt reliable, put in personalised cards and you get the most random items.

I have also signed up for google checkout on here and have had some sales with buyers paying that way, it charges credit cards so they dont need funds in paypal or money in the bank and is easy to set up.

When I started selling here I took it as a new start, knew I would have to get customers again and these things take time. My feebay business took a year to get me into profit with equipment etc as do all businesses and advertising yourself I think is the main thing.

Hope this has helped and there are lots of other sellers on here far more experienced than I am with much better advice

Good luck all,,,this is really a better, freindlier place and much less stressful so worth sticking at

Me too! A great post, very motivating...I think most previous ebay seller's sales have been down so much lately, till we're looking for quick revenue/sales to bring us back up...But our sales on ebay didn't build up quickly, and neither will our Ebid sales...

Just keep plugging along, and maybe someone will get tired of looking at you and BUY something! lol

Thanks again for the great post Witchbroom and good luck to ALL of us!

Totally agree TT. I've been listing here since 1st September and no bites yet but I feel it in my bones that it won't be long before peeps come flooding in on Noah's Ark. (my fingers/toes/legs/eyes/ etc. are crossed anyway!)

    Hi again
Thank you for the positive comments about my post, glad it has helped.

Someone was worried about emailing old customers incase it was spamming. I dont think it is,,,,so long as its not done in bulk. They are your customers, they gave you their email details when they shopped with you so why not send them a nice email telling them you have moved. If your window cleaner changes his phone number he will put a flyer through the door letting you know how to contact him in future, its no different.

I went into ppal and downloaded a history for the last year and copied and pasted it onto a word document. Very long process but I do it when eastenders is on cos I dont have to watch it just listen. I copy and paste each individual email address then copy and paste a generic email saying where I have gone and all that I said on my last post. I only do half an hour a night and have had some nice replys. I even had a feebay seller leave feedback saying,,,lovely item and some great stuff on ebid,,,,,,,was chuffed about that cos feebay cant remove it as I didnt write it!!

And posting on here can generate sales too,,,,,,PGPicks,..you have two sales tonight,,,,,,love you tinsel embossing powder I cant get that in my local craft shop. Keep listing and the sales will come in,,the more we list the bigger the site can get

I have also made some ebid stickers for free on another post for people to print and put on all parcels on another thread.

    Good luck all
    xx
