That can't be totally true as when I registered I gave my name in full - first forename & surname - as the cardholder's name, but the card (and statements - which add Mr. to the front) have only my two initials & surname. It still verified ok and the AV icon appears next to my username.

Nigel... I know it's nice to have the AV next to your name but.... I haven't got it and it does not seem to bother people buying off of me

I wasn't saying that changing your details wouldn't fix your problem - especially if the forename you gave was not the first forename used on the account. Simply that, in my case at least, they were able to resolve an inexact name match on the details I gave with the details on the account & card.

Back in the mists of time I no doubt gave my full name when I started banking but my bank never uses it and always addresses me by my initials+surname. It's likely buried in their records somewhere though. Unless an form asking for a name states 'exactly as it appears on your card' I am never sure what they want and have used various permutations over the years without any problems.

I honestly don't recall how long it took to get the AV icon. I feel it was almost immediate on verification of the card though.

If you got as far as getting an error uploading then you clearly know where and how to add your picture. Did you notice the size limitations for pictures to be used in your signature?

Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 500 by 100 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).

If you are trying to use the one that appears on your 'About me' page then it looks to be too big. The reason it works on eBid but not within the forums is that the forum software is a bought in 'bolt on' to eBid and has it's own set of rules.

I think they also have to be in .gif or .jpg format but I can't find the reference for that at the moment.

Did the error message give any clue as to what was wrong?
