As I read it then it is going to impact quite seriously on our exposure on Google. As the only keywords that will be indexed are those that appear in the title. So listings that have important information in the description field due to lack of space in the title field could miss getting hits.

For example (as bykimbo started the thread): If you sell books and include the ISBN in the description field then anyone searching Google for that particular ISBN will not be shown your product.

I already make a practice of squeezing as many keywords as possible into the title. As I didn't know that previously the description was being used at all, I don't feel any worse off.

I see what you mean. So basically, only the title, category and price of our listings will be picked up by Google from now on? (Or am I misreading what Gazza has said?) Won't that mean that a lot of listings, which were previously picked up because of information in the descriptions, now be missed?

I, for one, am mightily relieved - I can cope with only the title being indexed but not with taking out all the extra information from the description!
