By making silly bets, after a few drinks, I have seen almost all this profit evaporate.

Betfair is not a bookies, it is a venue where people make bets against each other, by the way!

It is certainly possible, with the right knowledge and the correct restraint, to make money from gambling. The idea is that you combine back and lay bets so that you cannot lose. Sounds immpossible? It is not, if you have the time to devote to it!
Totally agree - and know exactly what you mean about using Betfair after a few drinks.
As I said, I only use it now for greyhound races (can use it for the horses, but the market is much more volatile, and more funds are required).
The image below shows a greyhound race a few minutes ago.
The green figure under each dogs name is my profit/loss for each dog should it win.
In this instance - if trap 5 wins, I profit. If anything wins, I come out level.
A win / no lose situation.
I could also ''green it up'' in which case I would win the £0.37p regardless of the outcome.
That was 1 £5.00 trade.......back it high, lay it lower. Fortunately I have software which tells me fairly accurately if a dog is coming in or going out in price.

I know it isnt a great profit - but there are around 100 of these races each day, and I reckon trading opportunities arise in about 33% of them.

Thanks - will let you know how it goes.
There are two others on this board that are doing the same thing.
