we still have cider houses in somerset...... which is a "pub" that only sells cider.... our local one still had sawdust on the floor until about 8 years ago... and cider houses are reputed to be very "rough" places where women use to be banned even "certain" women

From the sound of it, i vote thumbs up on the scrumpy! Do people ever simmer faggots in it? MMMM i'm currently losing weight and hungry. Is this the best time of year for scrumpy? Maybe in a few months?

It's not just the words that confuse. I remember visiting our offices in Louisiana, back when I was a wage slave, and everybody being astounded when I wanted a cup of tea. *Hot* tea, not iced. They knew what I meant, they just couldn't understand why I'd want it. And after scouring all the kitchens and cupboards were unable to produce such a thing...

I had started my request with "I don't suppose...", and I was right.

Mind you, I still maintain I'm the only Brit in the world who actually likes grits!

Brits and their grits; a gritty Brit; two part hominy....ok that's all for now.
