    Angry postage cost hiking.

im not to sure of ebid rules on what can & cant be charged for postage/shipping/name it what you like. iv just been looking for trainers for my son. advertised at only £4 yes i said £4. postage from london £30. now if thats not blatant hiking i dont know what is. some poor soul might just see the £4 then gets hit by the postage at £30. is there any rules that you think might cover this ? please let me know. cheers.

I would expect this seller doesn't get many sales.
Luckily ebid listings clearly show the total cost of an item so buyers can choose not to bid.

I would not be in favour of any 'rules' as each seller has different factors to consider in their postage and packing costs.

I have a slightly different view on this sort of thing as a buyer point of view.
My view is that the seller should be free to choose what the item cost is and what the p&p cost is. If after adding these 2 items together the item is still a "good deal" then I would have no problems buying from them (previous feedback permitting), but if the price was too much IMO then I would simply move on to the next seller who is giving a better deal.

Now from a seller point of view, I personally feel that I should only charge the stamp cost and packing cost, I live within 1/4 mile from PO so there is no need to add extras to my p&p cost. Other sellers will and have to add extra to the p&p cost to cover travel cost and waiting times etc, now I have got no problem with this, because that is what the seller has the right to do, but if after the total cost is pricing them out of the market then they need to re-think their selling fees, and adjust if possible.

The difficult point on this one is should the seller be alowed to get away with fee evasion, if using a listing where they pay a fvf, I would say they shouldn't be allowed to, but eBid have no set rules on this that I have found, therefore making it hard to deal with the sellers that do overcharge on p&p to avoid fees.

So to put simply, if you as a buyer don't like the total cost, then do not buy. Move to the next seller who is giving you a better deal

If that's a silly total price (including sensible P&P charge) then don't buy them.

If it's fee evasion (on here? what for? it's only 2 or 3%) then there should be action taken, but that's not up to us to do. I suspect it's an eBay refugee where the fvf is swingeing who has just transferred an auction and not thought about it.

It's taking me some getting used to and I didn't ever sell that much on there, or try fee avoidance by whacking up the postage, it must be a huge culture shock to others.

It happens on the other side to avoid high FVF but i dont think they will sell on here at that price.

    Default P&P Costs.

I have a massive personal cd collection of over 7000+ cd's.I buy my cd's from various web sites and auction sites as well as shops. The majority I buy online mainly for the conveinience factor.I have recently joined ebid and have had a thorough look at the cd's on offer.
The choice is very good but the P&P charges are not far from extortionate. The majority of sellers are charging way too much and will not be getting my business.
I have found a couple of sellers on this site with reasonable P&P and will use these in future, but as for the vast majority- well all I can say is greed has got the better of you.
All these sellers can say that they are not forcing me to pay for their goods - TRUE.But when the 1st class posting of a cd is 78p with the cost of a padded envelope,a little selotape and perhaps a very small charge for their time to pack it,I.E about 1 minute.
I do not favour any particular auction site in particular, and would like to see this one do well as I think that EBAY needs some sort of competition.
But unfortunately as far as the cd market goes, ebid has far too many greedy sellers to make this happen.
I do know what I am talking about as I have been buying cd's online for at least 7 years now!!
I wish ebid good luck for the future but it really needs to have some sort of P&P policy.

they will not last long with an attitude like this...

I agree with some parts of your statement, but others I strongly disagree with.

I do not think that we should name and shame on these boards or by PM. What one member feels is excessive another might not agree with. I woulod not like these boards to be where naming and shaming is done.

I think that there is not much point in fee evaision here, even if an item was to sell for £200 the fvf for galley would be just £4.00, but if you used common sense, you could reduce this without fee evasion, you could use front page auction at £2.50 or featured at £1.00 or if in OZ simply use front page or happy hour which both cost zero but featured cost $0.75
