Thread: Link eBay feedback into your auctions is easy

    oh ****, this is the icing on the cake for me, today..

    I dropped the 'CoUk' from the end of my username/store, so I've got roughly 600 links in 400+ auctions to Find and alter..

    ..a bundle of items with great designs to post and no suitable categories..

    ..and now I've checked to find my auctionfb links are Live, so they too have to be edited or deleted - but they're not on Every auction.. As far as I'm aware there's no 'quick' way to tell / edit (no surprise).

    I've bothered admin enough in the past day/two with login problems etc, but maybe they've got a strong rope I could borrow, just the once? lol

    Hi
    You can only point to your own feedback, the auctionfb system uses your ebay user name & password for verification.
    I know 368 feedback isn't that impressive, but its better than B**ger all!
    isn't it?
    I am a fair & honest seller, I would like buyers to know that. Thats all
    Thanks for the comment though, a fair point

    Hi CatsBarney, ok, that's interesting, it's good that auctionfb can't be used by a scammer just picking a name.

    But handing site passwords out to another site? No thanks!

    Anyhow, welcome to eBid, good luck here. 368 feedback sounds fine to me. Indeed I'm more inclined to expect good service from someone who's been around long enough to know how to do things right, rather than a powerseller who shifts 100,000 boxes a year and just expects a percentage to fall through the cracks.

    the easiest way to manage information like feedback links- is to place them on your 'about me' page. and have a link in your auctions to yoiur about me page. that way not only is it easy to keep updates, but you can five additional information such as shipping, returns policies etc..

    I think you hit the nail on the head, there, HH.. and that's where the link's going to go. Decided. Done. ..Just as soon as I get around to putting anything in the page If viewers to the auction think the feedback from other places is that important, they can go to the 'Me page to read up..

    On this bit ("but you can five additional information such as shipping, returns policies etc..") did you mean eBid allows x number of links to various auction areas in each auction? Wasn't sure, sorry.. I put a pile of info at the bottom of each auction anyway, but moving it to the 'Me page would clean up the auction itself & make those inidividual areas easier to edit, too.. guess I'd better pull my finger out & get to work(!)

    thanks again

    Smile help!!

    Hi, i wonder if someone can help me. I've tried to do the copy and paste link into my auctions but it doesnt show the ebay icon only what i've pasted.#
    <a href="http://auctionfb.com/click.php?user=1942" target="_blank">
    <img src="http://auctionfb.com/feedback.php?user=1942" border="0">
    </a>
    Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?
    Also probably the wrong place to ask, but how are former (or current) ebay sellers finding their sales are doing via ebid? If you dont mind me asking.

    Hi, I don't see it in your auctions (ok, I only checked one) but I do see that problem in your About Me.

    First go into your About Me and remove that bit.

    Go into "My Defaults". What is your editor set to? I reckon it's almost certainly one of the WYSIWYG options. Change it to Plain HTML.

    Now go and do the edit again, (you're now in a mode where all the bits and bobs of HTML are visible). Save your modification to your About Me.

    Since you probably won't want plain html as a rule, go back to your My Defaults and set the editor back to what it was before.

    Seems clunky? Sure is. There should be an option anywhere you can use the editor to allow you to switch between the different types, the site needs this fixing.

    Alternatively you could stay in the WYSIWYG editor and use the fancy buttons to insert an image and link it. It's probably harder to describe how to do that than to paste in the html as above!

    STOP PRESS!! OK, I just looked at another of your auctions, 1209577976-5453-0 and I see the problem there. Same fix, you need to paste in that html when you're in the plain html editor. Fortunately with auctions you CAN switch between editors, so that will be somewhat easier.

    Though if you're usually using the WYSIWYG editor it may be easier to learn how to do it the other way, using the buttons in the tool bar. Look for the little tree (just to the right of the anchor) and after you've inserted the image you want, try the little chain link a few buttons to the left.

    If you still can't figure it out, if you ask nicely enough someone might do a YouTube video of it! Another chance to promote eBid on YouTube!

    can I just point out that it is against eBid rules to have links within auction listings and that if you do so your account can be suspended and all your auctions deleated

    Hi,
    Have read this thread and am still confused about links to Ebay feedback. I've grasped that any live links on an auction page aren't allowed (although presumably a non-live pointer is OK?).
    More confused about what's allowed on the ME page - if a live link is allowed, does it have to be via auctionfb rather than a live link directly to the Ebay f/back page? And if so, why the distinction?
    Thanks :-)

    I've always assumed the intent of that is to stop unethical practices such as linking to ones own ecommerce site, rather than a ban against, for example, linking to a blog that gives more insight into the kind of person the seller is and how trustworthy they are.

    Can you quote the actual wording of these rules please? I'd be surprised, in view of G&M's general attitudes, if they're as draconian as you imply, and I'd imagine that in that case that a discussion might even result in them being relaxed a little.
