    Default Forums suggestion ('Plug' thread)

I've just checked through the 'plug your auctions' thread and found 89 pages dating back to August 2005, which means a whole load of the posts are useless/obsolete. If the rules state that each seller can have only one thread there, then wouldn't it be better to ensure that old posts be deleted to free up space? It's difficult enough trying to work out what really is available to buy here without having to trawl through pages of forgotten posts.

Notice to people plugging their auctions - might I suggest you include what the bargain actually is within your titles? I already assume it's meant to be a bargain if you are listing it for sale in the first place.

Where else would you look for bargains? I go for a browse, see who is promoting what and then get distracted and sidetracked into becoming a buyer, or I used to. I check the plug thread mainly to see who is doing what to promote their items, and I can confirm that the top sellers are usually the ones who do the best listings and best plug threads. Titles catch my eye, scrolling through loads of 'guess what I have' or 'I have bargains' or 'I need to get rid of...' threads is a complete pain, even more so when you find hundreds of posts that are years out of date. I don't want to guess, I don't want to see stupid captions, I already KNOW that if you're on here selling then you have something to sell. I want to know EXACTLY what the bargains are and just get on with buying them, instead of timewasting.

Impulse buys can only happen when you spot a real bargain and can't resist the urge to buy it, even when you have absolutely no use for it. LOL

I don't have a problem with older pages- i only view the front page anyway. But there is an easy solution here, most forum software has options to have old threads deleted after 90 days. This could be applied to the plug forum.

Search is only good if you know what you're looking for. Most of my best purchases have been 'just because' ones.

I shall ask for title max length to be increased -- then I can add "Bargain for NykMedia!" to some of my auctions and you can search for them!
