Thread: Method to end all auctions at once?

  1. #1

Default Method to end all auctions at once?

It would be great to see something added so that all auctions could be ended at once instead of one auction at a time. It would make it a lot easier to submit large numbers of updates, price changes, scans and new items. Thanks, Len

Not quite what you're asking for - When you're viewing a page of your 'auctions i am running' you can use the 'select all' and 'close' button to cloas eall 75 on the page at once. you can also 'delete' them the same way. To bulk edit i'd recommend you use the 'export listings' function, do your edits in excel, then use the 'bulk uploader' to re upload them.

Yes, a 'close all' thing would be useful.

When I get a rown tuit I'm intending to upload about 5600 listings and if I want to close them all it means doing 75 in a batch, 75 times.

This puts me off uploading them to begin with!

Know what you mean. I have about 16/20 thousand to do. Such is the nature of stamps. Len

if you needed to close all at once i'm sure ebid admin could help, they often do bulk jobswhen approached.
However as it's free to list here- what circumstances do you see when you'd need to close all 5000-16000 listings at once?

Well for example when I want to change the flat-rate P&P of everything (of my intended upload). The only way to do it is to export listings, delete listings and re-upload. Or is there another way?

Following a request from me, ebid admin have just added the 4 new international ebid venues to the shipping options on all 3500 of my auctions

We are working on a search and edit facility to allow for mass editing/deleting of auctions. Its a big job and is will take a couple more weeks.

    Thanks,
    Gazza

I can well understand what is being said about a mass delete. Near the first of December I received a message that most of my manufactures/vendors where increasing prices from 3 to 15%, everything effective 1/15/08. I had about 45K listings posted, and to delete each and every one of them took days (I do this in the evenings and my days off).

About 10 days ago I received a notice from a vendor that the Department of Transportation was having second thoughts about a headlight kit that I carry though them, and they asked that we stop marketing them till things could be worked out with the DoT. I have not uploaded the info before receiving the info, so I avoided a minor headache, yet if I had, the keyword search feature would come in handy. Thanks Gazza for indicating that will be added in the coming weeks.

I had made a mistake when I started reposting my listings the first of the year, and had things set for 5 days and anywhere between 0 and 10 times to auto-relist. I just finished uploading everything again, with run until sold, and relist 10 times set, and now I am trying to remove the old listings they replace. I think I may have to just let things expire, and then delete the auctions/listings, though it makes it harder to keep up with things.

I should have about 45K listings posted right now, yet I am guessing as I type this it is closer to 65K <lol>. Of course I expect to add more, just don't want duplicates, so when I hit 100K listings it isn't the same listing repeated as both a 5 day auction and as run until sold.

Because of all of the above I think I can appreciate the the mass delete, and keyword search and delete, features, when added. Just my two cents. If you don't like my thoughts I do accept returns, with a $10 restocking fee
