Lovely start to 2008, a little bit of erm fraudulent acitivty on our bank accoun
Well, before i go on, have a quick look at this link

Now ill relay all........
For about a month, my wife has been trying to acces our internet banking with no joy, she can get on the site fine, and type in her details fine, but then there seems to be a problem with the website.......... or so we thought
Last friday, we received a call from the fraud department of our bank.
Apparently an ip address associated with fraudelent acitivity had accessed our account online. They asked us to do a scan of the computer with a suggested antivirus/malware scanner, which i did do and it found yep a trojan and a couple of viruses.
I done my own scan with my favourite program "hijackthis" and it revealed a an ip address i didnt recognised and about 30 internet bank addresses, which i dont even use
To cut a very long story short.
Heres what had happened
We had a trojan/virus, when you typed in say your bank website address, our browser was "hijacked" and redirected to a phony website, exactly matching the bank website. We typed in our details and obviously this would essentialy "fail".
but that dosnt matter, our details were then keylogged, and so the fraudsters have exactly what they need to gain access to our account
at the moment,we are still trying to find out exactly what if anything had gone missing, with the run up to xmas, we cant 100% say yes this has gone missing, but i had raised concerns, that we seem to be spending more than we should have
Before anyone says, ooooh you should have antivirus software
I do.....i have AVG, Spybot, adawre, norton, and hijackthis......until i re ran the hijackthis, none detected the infection I was asked to go onto the www.nanoscan.com website and their totalscan software is the only one that was able to detect all my viruses
And even to make things abit more crap, the virus hides itself into your restore file, if its not deleted from here, it simply restores itself, and if you restore the computer it restores itself
SOoooooo in essence
EVERYBODY should go to www.nanoscan.com and use thier excellent software, also check your hosts "file" (do a windows search), and if you see a ton of bank addresses, then id contact your bank to be on the safe side![]()
