Thread: TV Drama, or Films you watched as a child & can't quite remember

  1. #1

Default TV Drama, or Films you watched as a child & can't quite remember

I don't think there is anything more annoying than something you watched long ago & only partly remember, usually not enough to identify it, just enough to drive you nuts.

After many years of searching I finally managed to identify 3 of mine.

    1) Somebody killed by knitting needles through the neck - Turned out to be the Hammer Horror Production of The Old Dark House with Robert Morley & Joyce Grenfell

    2) Head in a hatbox - was Night Must Fall with Albert Finney & Susan Hampshire

    3) A young girl diven mad by her guardian, Jenny Linden was in it - this one really drove me nuts but turned out to be Nightmare another Hammer Film.

There is one more I'm still struggling with, there were lots of what you assumed were very small aliens driving a woman crazy, the twist was the small aliens were actually American Astronauts & the woman was a giant alien I think it may have been an episode of the Twilight Zone. Can anyone identify it for me?

Amazing the things I got to watch when I was young
they all made a lasting impression.

    Anyone else got any?

I lived in the US for a spell as a small child and I remembered a TV programme where the viewer could send for a plastic screen to stick on the TV and then help the main character by drawing in what he needed (a ladder to get out of a pit, for example). No-one in UK had ever heard of it and I never met an American who knew it either. Fortunately one post on an ebay.com board told me that I was not crazy/imagining it but remembering Winky Dink!

I had no vision of the character and the name doesn't ring a bell even now, but that's the programme. Isn't the internet wonderful? I would still think I was crazy without it.

I agree there, it was the internet that made it possible to for me to identify my 3.

Not exactly from my childhood but... I remember watching a feature length cartoon about the effects of a nuclear strike and how a working class couple in the uk coped with it. I seem to think that John Mills did the voice for the main character.

I didn't watch much tv as a kid but when I did it was usually sci-fi such as Dr Who, Star Trek, and The Tomorrow People.
