Listing numbers are not the be all and end all of a site, ebay has millions and look at the scammers on there!

Who mentioned Scammers, Ken? Listing numbers are not everything, but without listing numbers, the site will return no records on too many searches and tempting potential buyers is hard enough without those that do arrive finding nothing they want to buy.

I always search here first for anything I want to buy (I used to search somewhere else but least said soonest mended), but I still spend far more on ebay than I do here just because the items I want turn out to be listed there.

I agree ebay is the venue of last resort as far as I'm concerned.

Essentially listings are advertising! Incidentally, while we're talking about listing numbers, it seems to me that when feebay listing numbers go down business increases here and vice versa.

litttleme1969 Some of the drops in listing numbers were eBid dealing with a number of sellers who were no longer active, around that time there was some discussion on the forums about inactive sellers and empty shops, this also was an area that eBid admin give some attention, it did lead to a drop in listings but was I think a positive move by eBid in the proccess of moving the site forward.

When I first discovered ebay, I found people just didn't understand the concept. I used to describe it as putting a virtual postcard in a virtual newsagent's window.

Well yes, definitely, but I meant for the site really. Six people have joined through my auctions so far this month, three of them didn't actually buy anything from me. It looks like MosPostcards and ToyCrazyUK have got nine each.

    Default new buyers

The last 4 items I have bought on the other site I have looked for here first and not found them. I always put a plug for eBid in with anything I sell there but I've no idea if anyone has taken it up because if they use a different user name how can I tell? I've probably got a few buddy points floating around in cyberspace. lol.
