i dont think it should have frontpage promo at the moment as it seems its getting more and more like the usual £1 bargain basement category everyday IMO

think the rules regarding number of auctions, time frame and price need more clearly defining

There aren't any official rules that will be enforced. The promotion was for items listing at £1 no reserve, that was the only rule for the items showing up, as far as I was aware. But I don't follow all the threads, so don't know what the final rules were.
I think the 1NR could work great! It's much better than the £1 bargain basement for the simple reason that you can dig down the categories and actually see what's listed there, rather than having to scroll through hundreds of listngs. It's much, much easier to use, easier to pick up the genuine bargains and we should, at least, know that the people listing are reading the promotional forums and supporting the campaign.

Rednosty, Grandmotherwind is in Canada, hence the slight difference depending on the exchange rate

For all the new additions that may have joined the 1NR since the newsletter went out, I think it's great to see people responding positively to the promotions. Now where are all the bidders? I know they are out there, because I've been outbid again!! LOL

There were agreed guidelines in one of the threads. (sorry don't have time to find them just now). the gist of them was that items should ( at least look) like their actual value was above £1. no 'buy it now' to be used unless it was over £5.00. I have made a few sales on the 1NR but if it's a free for all then what exactly are we promoting?

It's supposed to be promoting easy to spot, no reserve bargains. Sorry if I don't have the time to search through the forums every day and keep up to date but I do try my best

PS: It's also supposed to be promoting eBid (I forgot to add that bit in earlier!!)

While there is no way to 'enforce' anything I've put the post HH was thinking about below.

All auctions to end by 15th December
£1 No reserve (No 99p start as it looks like an error)
BIN only shown if £5 or over
No auto repost (doesn't mean that we can't post it again, just not on "Auto")
space out finish tmes so there is a mix of people's stuff
make sure the item is exciting to keen 'em coming back!

Let's get it looking good over the weekend, so it's good enough to promote by Monday!

    I totally agree.

This promotion was started to entice people over to the site and get some bidding wars started.

There has never been a minimum value for the auctions but it was stated that £1 start with no reserve should look like a real bargain and also appeal to Christmas bargain hunters.

It's getting late now, so I'll just quote Toys for a bit

If we get this promotion right and the buyers think there a loads of bargains to be had, they will return and will also hopefully browse the other auctions.
During this promotion I, and a few others, have listed some quite high value items. Obviously, I can only speak for myself, but I was/am fully expecting to make a loss on these auctions. I was quite happy to do this as I thought it would be of benefit to the site as a whole (and I might get a few follow-on sales too).

I'm really disappointed that some others have seen this as a way of getting extra exposure for items that should really be in the £1 Bargain Basement section.

It may get you a few extra sales in the short-term but it's counter-productive to the aim of this promotion, which was to get people excited about eBid!

I listed a new one... how's that for a 1NR? It isn't quite another Nintendo DS but I reckon it's a bargain and if it ends up selling for £1, I may as well shape up and ship out. I haven't had a chance to go and look at everything that's available, so am not yet too sure what the fuss is about. Be right back as soon as I have found out what's going on in the 1NR.
