Default Plastic carrier Bag Potential BAN

What do you think of this idea?

I think its a really good idea and wondered if its worth starting to collect plastic carrier bags? As over the years they will disappear and become museum pieces??

Also Its really worth somebody looking at selling the cotton? Type on here?

as for the subject i dont get why paper bags are not issued in shops just like in the states - simple and effective - but thats too logical an idea to be taken up by this country - it always has to be bizarre and convoluted lol

Safeways used to give out brown paper stand up bags. Handy in the shopping trolley and in the car boot. The problem was, when you got home, you could only carry two in at a time because they didn't have handles. OK if you have a carport or garage next to the house. Not so good if you park out by the road. The old paper carrier bags used to give way and it was always the one with the eggs in.
I bought Iceland shopping bags. I think £1 each, and a frozen food one for £2. Lidl's charges for bags, so I'd rather take my own. The Iceland ones are a lot stronger than carriers anyway.

Thing is yes paper bags are better, but imagine going to supermarket for your weekly shopping. The paper bag wouldnt be able to hold the weight of the items. Unless the shop issued us with boxes that can support the weight, but they tend to recycle the boxes. Plastic bags can be annoying, though effective in holding the weight of your shopping.

I watched an interview on telly yesterday with someone from one of those green organisations. He said that paper bags weren't the answer as they use so much energy in the production etc that they were no greener than plastic bags, except that they are easier to diispose of. He reckoned the way to go is for everyone to go back to bringing their own cotton bags when they shop.

I have made and sold a few tote bags on Ebid...maybe I should start doing it again. Looks like there might be a demand for them now.
