Thread: OLCI distance learning

  1. #1

    Default OLCI distance learning

Has anyone used this practical distance learning company? Or do you know somone who has? I'm thinking of doing the City and Guilds 2330 as the first part of becoming an electrician but I am worried about useing a distance learning company as I have heard some dodgy things about some of them. I have found one customer review of OLCI and isnt a good one but it dosnt sound all bad either. I am also put off from going to my local college to do the course as I have 2 friends my age (about 30) who did the first year there and they said that there was a hell of a lot of disruption caused by teens in the class. It wasnt too bad for them as there was 2 of them but I dont fancy having to put up with such a load of hassle by myself.....

Not heard of them sorry, but I can vouch for home study distance learning
I successfully completed a bookkeeping course with ICS
brill company, had contact with my tutor and help was available to me if I needed any, I completed it at my own pace, no pressure at all.

good luck with whoever you do train with

Thanks for the link inchworm. I have a few more questions that you or somone else may be able to help me with. The courses that are relevant to what I want to do say things like: 'On completion of your course you will be awarded an ICS Diploma and you'll be fully prepared to sit the City & Guilds Award.' which seems to me to say I would then have to pay somone to sit a C&G exam. or am I wrong on this?

And also, I think I need an experienced employer or electrician to answer this one: is the BTEC Advanced Diploma in Electrical Installation the same level of qualification as the C&G 2330?

    Thanks anyone!

I'm not sure if you would have to pay to sit the city & guilds tbh,
when I passed my diploma, it was recognised by the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (I still have my membership card somewhere)
I presume that your diploma would be a recognised qualification too
you could send an email and ask all about the course first, see if that clarifies a few points for you.
