Thanks rabbit. I've given a brief reply for now ( I do hope G & M are quick with their bulk upload processing today!). later on i'll search the forums for some clear instructions.

Might be useful if i ( or anyone who wants to help!) puts up some info about setting your 'my defaults' page so that no one gets caught out by the 'default to featured' settings

I see the person as joined as platinum for 30 days so she can list her auctions as 'buy it now. If she were to downgrade to silver after 30 days, would her listings stay as 'buy it nows'?

    Hi Val,
Useful info from Shezz about the YDC auctions worth putting up as YDC auctions are unique to Ebid.

The YDC was started quite a while ago in fact 46 months ago, the founder of the YDC was Frank (yorkie) when Frank run the YDC the title stood for Yorkies Daft competition, and as the title says it was for people to put on Daft auctions once a month, last full weekend of the month, and people would donate their sales from these auctions to charity.

Not really much has changed when i took over from Frank I have tried to keep it as much the same as when Frank run it, if a suggestion is made to me i normally run a poll asking for votes on the change.

As it stands YDC stands for Your Donations Count
Listing is made on the last full weekend of the month
Listing is from 6.00pm Friday through to 6.00pm Sunday
Who ever makes the most money on their auctions each month, gets to choose the nominated charity for the following month. some people choose to donate their money to the nominated charity, or some may choose to nominate it to the charity of there choice.
There is a category in the charity section called YDC so you list your items there,

Please do not put on items and start them at to high a price and do not put on things that you hope to get a really high price for, all auctions are donated so will only get the money that peeps are willing to fork out on charity auctions.

Althought the spirit seems to have gone a fraction, i hope one day it will come back, but it used to be fun when the bidding wars started, peeps would come in this thread a jest with each other,

There are a few simple rules as you have more then likely read

If you have any more question please feel free to ask, as you can see there are a lot of peeps here that will help you

Link to the YDC section on Ebid - http://uk.ebid.net/scat-4615.php

    More info from Anichka -

....... about the YDC charity auctions. These were started by Yorkie quite some time ago & are held towards the end of each month, YDC stood for Yorkie's Daft Auctions but Shezz took over the running of these auctions a few months ago, a poll was put on the forum asking whether the name should be changed, the majority wanted to keep the YDC so it now stands for Your Donation Counts. There are often daft auctions or daft titles & descriptions for sensible items, it's a lot of fun for worthwhile causes. Any ebid member is welcome to take part in these auctions & can donate the money raised to their own favourite charity or to the nominated charity of the month. The rules are given in the forum along with the start date each month. The auctions run for 7 days & the person that gets the highest amount on one auction each month becomes the YDC King or Queen, this affords them lots of praise from other forum members & the right to choose the charity/worthwhile cause for the following month.

    Maybe something like this?

    Choosing your auction format :
When listing your auctions, please make sure you have "Free Auction" selected as the auction choice defaults to gallery auction/featured auction automatically and you will be charged accordingly.

You can also set your auction format in the defaults section of your Ebid Control Panel. Look at the My Account Section on the right side of your control panel. Click on "My Defaults" to set your auction options in Section 4.

    Thanks artlandish.

I'll add the ydc info in a couple of weeks ( maybe just before the next one?) after i've got more of the basic selling stuff included.

I'll add the defaults info to the FAQ page later today
The thread over there's getting quite a good response just now. I'm just concious theres so much info still to be given!

I've pm'd Gothica a couple of days ago as she has some good tips on how to set up auctions ( template widths etc..) but she's not read it yet. If anyone 'sees' Gothica here could they point her at this thread please

    Hi Val!

I can see that at some point things may go wrong and the thread may get pulled (I think some people may try baiting us).
It may be an idea for you to copy and paste your first 2 posts (the info and faq ones), and keep the info safe in word or something. You've probably already thought of that and done it, so not meaning to sound like teaching you to suck eggs, I just wanted to put my mind at rest.
    Have a look!

Good advice rabbit. We can't stop people posting what they want or saying what they want about Ebid, but it's important how we react. Your posts have been remarkably calm, objective and factual. That's great. Like I said before, I've stopped posting there as I think my username may not be terribly welcome there! lol

Hi. Good idea, ( no I hadn't thought of that) I'll save the text.

The MSE isn't a promotional thread for EBID - It's informational only, so it will inevitably reflect both good, and bad experiences. We can also share tips on how to avoid some of EBIDs flaws (like that 'featured ' listings default, or the narrow table width needed for auction templates)

The thread will get some posts which aren't designed to help anyone But as the first couple of pages are positive, i don't think many people will read through the whole thread Anyway. I learned quickly on that site that i need to grow thicker skin, and so far no ones got to me!
