    Post The Wigtown News

Wigtown is Scotland's national book town and NYKMedia is trying to invite as many traders as possible to join us here on eBid. Many of our friends and neighbours trade online elsewhere, so we invited them to come here, have a look around and let us know what they think, in the hope that they can see the potential offered by membership here. Amusing as it may seem, some didn't think very much of the childish behaviour and lack of professionalism they witnessed in some of these forums, so they won't be back.

Forums, as you keep reminding me, are for the use of ALL. Unfortunately, some people tend to forget that this is a trading site and that traders' reputations can be judged by reading their posts on here. I can see that only a small number of eBid users frequent the forums, but that is not to say that a far greater percentage don't visit, read, then leave never to return.

So, I will continue with my Wigtown based postings and I will continue to request the removal of anything that could be deemed offensive - NOT because I have no sense of humour, but to ensure that when people invited to join us here on eBid arrive, they are not put off joining. I want them to feel welcome and be encouraged to join the site with a view to both buying and selling.

Sorry if the concept of a serious promotion is foreign to any of you, but trading online is not just a fun hobby for everyone, for some it is their business.

That's all from Wigtown for now, but there will always be more.

I have to agee, I've been suprised by some peoples atitudes on here. Just as an example I replied to a topic about *orange* and as I had only ever had a good service and good communication with this company I wrote just that. I expressed my concern that the other person had problems and was very polite. I was shocked to see when I went back to the topic I had been bitched at by the topic starter. IMO there is no need for this type of comment, I like everyone else am intitled to express my person opinions without the worry of being attacked on here. Ive seen this happen to quite a few others for no apparent reason! Its truly not on and gives a really bad impression of the Forums and the site.
I was reading comments on another site about EBID and it mentioned just that. At least 3 of the people who commented reported the same problem and said they would not return here and infact continued to warn people off the site!
Comments were about how there is a Klicky group here and if you're not part of it you get ignored or at worst attacked for what are very simple comments! I did Stand up for the site and had my say and tried to play it down, but to be honest I did agree with what was being said. Sadly its just a few people who are not only hurting themselves but dragging both the forums and the site down with them!
I try to work to a code, and it goes something like this..

IF YOU HAVE NOT GOT ANYTHING NICE TO SAY THEN DONT SAY ANYTHING!!

    Rant over

Having absolute scum on the forum doesn't seem to have hurt Feepay much - and isn't it odd just how many people who criticise eBid are long term Feepay members?

Not saying the OP doesn't have a point, but I do think that sometimes people worry too much over the little things.

Hello from sunny Wigtown - and well said!

Petty disagreements are rife everywhere and that can reflect the integrity (or lack of) of individual members of this ecommunity. That, again, reflects on who is prepared to spend their hard earned cash where and for what reasons, when it should really be a case of being able to buy what you want, when you want it, at a price you are happy to pay.

Some people do not realise that what can chase customers away (and keep sales down) can be nothing more that a, 'less than helpful' attitude.
I like your motto but wouldn't be able to live by it I'm more of a 'criticism is good if it's constructive' and 'if you have anything helpful to say, then say it', type person. I like to hear the problems, but only from those who are prepared to put their money where their mouth is or stand up and be counted when needs must.

I think perhaps many people are at a complete loss as to how to generate a regular turnover of sales, enough to warrant spending precious time and money on marketing their stores, even if it is only towards occasional 'busy times'. What I keep trying to get across is the fact that with every small promotion that brings a handful of new potential customers here, then we should all be trying to build on that, convert these new visitors into sellers and buyers, help build some sort of new customer loyalty - keep their attention long enough to make them want to come back, explore further and bring a few friends. Instead, newcomers who happen to scratch the surface find juvenile pettiness, empty shops and sellers who are spending less time interacting with their customers than they are grumbling about this place not being busy enough.

Regardless of what anyone thinks, this is NOT a vicious circle, it is just a very twisty line that needs straightening out a little, so we all get to where we are aiming sooner, rather than later.

Thank you for the input, it is very nice to see that others are making an effort to generate a professional element here and trying to protect the overall integrity of the place.

I will continue to delete my info threads, taking everyone else's postings with my own, each and every time the topic strays beyond reasonable return. For this, I am not apologetic

As I said above I am only trying to relay the comments that I found there. I also did point out in my post on Yahoo that the things that happen in real life will also happen in cyberspace.. i.e. we are all entitled to our opinion. But what is not helpfull is when people jump on you for no reason, some people need to do a little more thinking before they type
As for Feepay forums mention by my good friend the RED..
Yes I totally agree, but having spent time on the feepay forums I would have to say that small pettiness over time turned into gang warefare..lol and i'm not joking about that.
It ended up with serious slagging off and down right nasty comments that got very personal. And I read so many times that people where leaving due to the comments etc.
My worry is that these forums could go the same way, as in the 10months I have been on here, and with more people joining in, the personal attacks have started to rise.
Yes we are all different, and yes you may not like someone, but cant we just play nice for the sake of the site guys
Thats all I'm thinking.. its in no way aimed at any particular person, because to be honest I couldnt name them if I tried mainly I tend to try and ignore nasty comments and I never bite even if provoked!..lol
Now I can see everyones going to have a go...PMSL
