If you do the crime serve your time.

Can we all honestly say we have never done stupid things like this?

So she should be...I don't see a difference between celebs, stars and "ordinary people, except "ordinary " people are usually much nicer to talk to. I have spoken to quite a few "stars" who were very pleasant when I worked in television.

well shes young and led a molly coddled life money galore fame and fortune without having to do much except smile for the cameras and a few other little bits and pieces

its obviously affected her alot - must have been a shock - i feel a bit sorry for her

perhaps sentence in prison was not the answer, after all she wasn't drink driving, was a technical offence of driving while banned - they could have extended the ban or fined her 2 million dollars - and sent the money to charity - that way it would have been win win - i can think of alot of people who get away scott free with worse

but i was pmsl at her statement that my public need me

sorry emma but I disagree, she deserves to go to jail - my sister did 2 weeks in hollaway for not paying her tv licence - they even handcuffed her in front of her then 2 year old son - was just lucky I turned up that day with her to court as theyt were busy making arrangements to have all 3 her boys took into care whilst she went down, so obvs I spoke up and took them till she got out

    but thats what i'm saying
for petty *crimes* where no one is hurt people shouldnt go to jail whether jo public or celebrities - if anything just have a financial ticking off as their lives can be severely affected just to suit the lawmakers and the vengeful or hard liners (not saying you are lol cos i know youre not)

and for those that say the punishment should fit the crime, see? dont pay licence? get a fine not ruddy jail

sorry to hear about your sisters situation - that must have been horrid
    glad it turned out ok

Pheasantplukka - It was well over the top that they were making arrangements to put kids in care. That would punish THEM for your sisters "crime". I dont think you should to to jail for not having a TV licence but, on the other hand, no-one FORCED your sister to get a TV and watch it unlicenced. She did that herself, thinking, oh, I'll get away with it. Same as Ms Hilton, I suspect. Most of these transient nobodys assume that just cos they have a face everyone knows that they are somehow above the law. Emma - if someone isnt going to pay a licence fee, then they may not pay a fine. Then what? Anyhow, TV licence should be scrapped. You can get TV on your mobile. How do they police that?

Another option, make them do some good work for the community if they do not work and do not have a salary...
Having people under supervision in jail doing nothing or outside doing some good, I know what I'd rather have...
