Hi, Would it be possible to have some sub-categories in the Collectables/Photographs section please?

I am thinking of putting some photos for auction and had a browse to see what categories existed. Currently there are none.

Having about 3 or 4 would vastly improve

At the moment there are approximately 600-700 images mixed randomly, trying to locate a particular image would be a nightmare. Having just 3 or 4 categories added to begin with would vastly improve things.

My suggestions would be:

1) Horse Racing (this would hold most of the current images).

2) People

3) Places

4 Others (images in this could me moved to more specific folders as they are deemed necessary).

With respect to Lofty's idea,
Only I have approx. 6000 Celebrity slides,
5000 Glass negatives, 000's of scenic views
and over 1000 EBay followers that want to
know when & where I'm going to relist them.
Simply put, I can not afford EBay.

So please Gazza,
Lets try this,

Collectables,

Sub cat. Photographs.
Change this to Photographic images.

2nd Sub Cat.
Negatives / Photographs / Slides & Transparencies

Sub Cat. Under Negatives.
Glass / Palmoloid

Sub Cat. Under Photographs.
Celebrities / Horses / Scenic Views / Others

Sub cat. Under Slides & Transparencies
Celebrities / Scenic Views / Others

Is this too complex ?

Thanks to Lofty for noting the Horse Racing Photographs. The reason they have all had to be listed there is because there is still no Horse Racing section anywhere on ebid. Of course sub-categories under Photographs would be good and may I request (again):

I have no problem with the horse photos Harvey; my only grumble is that if faced with 600+ unsorted items, most people woudl give up. Therefore it needs some sort of categorisation to help us.

Here's my take on the idea!

It sounds like your trying to start a photo stock agency online with Ebid. I don't think this will work. I suggest that you keep the Catagories broard, but comprehensive in idea and catagory.

Fine Art: This could cover everything from nudes, scenics, to you name it. In all film or digital and print formats and could be narrowed down in the online search engine to subject matter posted in the title!

Negative/Transparancies: This could cover everything else. Glass Plates, negatives, Tintypes etc.

If you want to post alot of images in a general catagory, I suggest you find an picture agency to post to!

Fine Art is just that the best of your creative energy and presentation...everything else is just snapshots and photographs.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

That idea is totally un-workable though, at present the photographs section has 600+ randomly mixed photos. Most people would not be bothered to sort through them to find what they want. What is wrong with having things filed in a sensible format for people to find them?

Would you want to sort through that many listings?
