I thought it was a bit of a strange ending, but I guess it leaves the way open for another series though.

I don't need to. I just found out that someone already did.
One of them said:
“But it was a tough one, because we had to persuade the BBC that the main character of this hit show should commit suicide – they asked some questions about it. There was a certain reservation, initially, because, obviously, Sam has a big following.”

Im sick of shows that are really good and then get cancelled after leaving a cliff hanger at the end of the first series.....u never know wot was gonna happen![]()
i wait till there are several seasons of something now...![]()
It happens with so many of the US shows.
Seems to me that someone writes a decent first series and shows it to the networks. They get all excited and put it on air as it was written. The fans love it. The networks then say to the writers that they want the series expanded beyond what the writers had already planned out. The writers do as they are told, the networks start to show the new, drawn out version, the fans hate it, the networks blame the writers and cancel the remaining episodes. And once again the fans get shafted because the networks wouldn't stop interfering.
Yeah i think your right, although there are other reasons too. For example there's a series showing on ITV4 called Smith... i started watching it.. got to about the 4th episode then found out they had cancelled it after the first series. Why? ratings..... well ffs u stick on on ITV4 what do u expect... i mean who the hell watches ITV4 (besides me) but even then i dont watch ANY other show on that channel...... i also dont remember it being advertised so what do they expect.. of course ratings would be low... and if a show doesnt get huge ratings immediately its pulled

I thought the ending was perfect!
When Sam was listening to the radio in the car right at the end and you heard a voice saying the operation was unsuccessful and there is nothing else they can do, it all clicked into place for me.
And the testcard girl turning the TV off right at the end was the life support machine being turned off, so we then knew that Sam is dead, but happy!
Perfect!
I know what you mean about good series getting pulled, but I hate it more when they replace the actor who plays a character, etc. even more. I'd rather a series end on a high note than watch it go down the pan.
Most of the programmes I watch these days are from the USA and we suffer from the USA networks pulling series' that don't do well enough in the ratings. I loved Invasion and couldn't believe it when they decided to keep going with Commander In Chief when a choice had to be made between the two.

The other guy (sam's and the rest of the policemen/woman's boss--his name's gone right out of my mind) is going to have a spin off series now. He's in the 1970's. Don't know how he's going to end up there?????
BTW John Simms will be in Dr. Who as the MASTER. That will be interesting to see his dark side......
it was scarey to see Sam go over the edge of that building, wasn't it!
Try the links all will be revealed
