Thread: how do you report abusive emails?

  1. #1

Default how do you report abusive emails?

when they come from a different ISP

    for example

im on aol and got some nasty mails last 2 days but they came from a hotmail account with some stupid sounding nonsensical addy

never noticed them till today because they went straight into my spam folder which i rarely check

at first i thought they were random rubbish like you get sometimes but not so sure now - in fact i don't believe they were random

all in capitals as well lol

thanks in advance for your help

Just click the report spam button on the offending emails.
If you get enough from the same address, AOL can take legal action, they have taken lots of people to court over this.
Then block the sender from sending you any more.

My auctions, good prices, fair p&p.

    No, don't reply.

Aside from the fact that it can make you appear as bad as them - and possibly give you problems with your ISP - these emails may just be an attempt to gain a response from "live" email addresses. The second you reply your email address becomes a valuable commodity which can be sold to other spammers.

if they are not spam emails, think you should report them

It doesn't really matter how us normal mortals see it, it's the ISP guys who decide. But hopefully the matter is now finished and you won't have just allowed yourself to be added to a dozen spam lists.
