Thread: Ebid "All About" pages.

  1. #1

    Default Ebid "All About" pages.

Do you look at a sellers All About page before you place a bid?

I tend to have a look if the seller has low feedback, I'm not sure why because we can all put whatever we want on there, but I do somehow find it a little reassuring when a seller has a little info on their All About page. Sometimes I can even be put off bidding on an item when the seller has little or no feedback and no info on their All About page.

I updated mine last night and had a look at a few others who's auctions were featured on the front page and was surprised to find that a lot of sellers don't seem to bother with their All About page. On the other hand some sellers go over the top and fill their page with bells and whistles and way too much information, some seem to have more terms and conditions than the united nations and put me off bidding bigtime.

Anyway back to my question...Do you look at a sellers All About page before placing a bid?

    Yes, sometimes.

I've noticed that many new sellers either don't recognise the need to fill it in or don't even know it exists and therefore fail to utilise a useful resource.

It is, of course, the equivalent of the ME page on Feebay. Do people care enough to check that before bidding on there or do they just go by feedback levels?

Yes I look at the All About page, and it can be the thing that makes my mind up on -To Buy or Not to Buy, I mean if it is empty and the seller is quite new with very little fb it is less encouraging, the All About page as Damian said is a useful resource,( I know I have got to do a bit to mine) and can help I think with giving information about allsorts of things...

I look at them and personally feel it is important that sellers take the time to do so. Even if it is just to say who you are and why you are selling I find it adds that personal touch which are so important

For me a good 'all about me' page gives background on the seller. It's the sellers chance to convince me ( along with their feedback) that they are someone i would want to send money to!

The page could include all or some of the following:
How long have they been selling?
Details of feedback gained on other sites.
    Sellers returns policies,
Sellers posting details ( aim to dispatch within xx days etc..). Depending on what's for sale, the seller may including information about their stock- For example a soap maker might say " All my products are guarenteed to tested on animals"
If the seller has one or more stores, they could put links to their stores on the page.
