Thread: Global warming: Man made?

  1. #1

    Default Global warming: Man made?

If you had asked me yesterday what was the biggest factor in global warming I would have said we are.

Although there is little doubt that global warming is happening there seems to be data there to say that it is a natural course of nature which has been happening since the earth has existed.

I got home late from work tonight and I watched a channel 4 show tonight called The Great Global Warming Swindle while I ate my tea and it has given me a lot to think about and has challenged my views on the subject.

When I have time I will try and find more information on this subject (other than the media hype) because the show raised some very interesting questions and has sparked my curiosity.

We need more shows like this on tv. Not shows that pamper to the latest conspiracies theory but shows which base their findings on facts and question common beliefs.

LOL, I had a curry. Was too knackered to be bothered to cook at that time of night so opted for a microwave meal. lol

Yeah it was an interesting show. It makes you angry in places when you see the amount of money being thrown at so called research which is flawed from the outset. It's well worth watching.

Right I'm off to bed, got an early start again. Night all.

    Well actually your almost right..lol
Animals on this planet produce a huge amount compared to us humans.
I watched the programme too with great interest, being well into all the recyling, green energy bit. It all made total sense.. Its all down the great ball of wax in the sky called the sun!! Our climate seems to be directly controlled by *hot Spots* and solar flares. It seems the sun goes through periods of increased output, which obviously affects everything on this planet. Thats why no scientific model made up by the boffins in the know have been able to predict the heating and the cooling.
I clearly remember the 70s when we had really bad winters, 6-8 foot snow drifts. Apparently the solar output at that time was at a record low! If you didnt see it.. you should watch it!!

But thats no excuse for poluting the planet and using up its limited resources. Ok so we have no control over the sun, but I dont want my children to live on a burried refuge tip!, which is pretty much what will happen if we dont recycle. Also there is no doubt that the crap we release into the sea is effecting the fish/mamal stocks there. So again we need to clean up are act!!

    Ramble over.. Sorry guys..lol

Anyone who didn't see the programme should click the link in Yorkie's post above. It'll take you to the website for the programme which gives a great deal of the information, along with links to other sources.

    It's well worth a look.

I also watched the programme, and it was very interesting. The hypothesis that the marxist anti globalisation movement have taken it as a vehicle for their agenda, gives them a level of organisation and influence way beyond their capabilities, in my opinion.

I heard before that the climate fluctuates quite naturally without any help from us but I didn't know it was probably down to sun spots 'til I saw that program last night.

Was interesting to see how closely the 'Planet Temperature' and 'Sun Spot Activity' graphs matched.

I have just looked at the link from Yorkie, as I missed the program. Very interesting indeed, and if that is true, we certainly need to get ourselves geared up. Temperatures rising, this time round, will mean more droughts, less clean water to drink, more people dying of heat stroke... Entire populations may have to move... It is already happening I suppose and let's face it, it is not happening without problems… The countries like the UK, which will benefit will have more people queuing to get in… With more humans and less ground to cultivate, we may have to accept that GM food is the better way… And if the weather decides to go the other way and get colder, it may be us, who will have to migrate. The difference with the past, is the amount of humans that may have to move one way or the other… While there were just a few millions in the past, we are talking Billions today.
    It promises to be interesting…
