    Red face Loading Pictures

Hi, I am a new member looking for another trading platform.
I have listed 1 item and can't download the photograph. I have also left 1 bid.

I am conducting market research on this site as a suitable platform. Loads of stock to list, without a straight forward way of showing a picture, this site has failed. I am not prepared to list without pictures.

The only way of getting help is via the forum, I have tried that and become more frustrated.

I would like some straight forward advice to be able to load a picture to my listing, I can then list many items and take part in the community.

    Regards

    Les Smith

    Hi,

Firstly thanks for you advice. I finally managed after 2 days to download 1 photograph, I have some 100 items for sale and just cannot take the time or need the headache to do this again. I think the site is embryonic, failing its new members, it is to complicated - its also taken me 2 days to pay for a purchase.

This is not satisfactory in any way, I find it tedious, time consuming and unessesarily complicated.

I would love for it to work in a professional way but at the moment, after these 2 experiences, I think that when my first months subscription finishes and my other bid is over I will be gone.

    Regards

I have just listed 30 items in just over 2 hrs and had a brand new buyer pay me within 10 mins. What problem are you having, is it resizing your pictures to get them in the gallery ?

I did manage to download one photgraph, it was displayed with the listing, I was pleased, tonight it has disapeared. I did compress it when I had learnt how to do it. I understand that I can compress many pics and store them here but if my 1st trial pic has vanished what is the point? More to the point if ebid wants to succeed and attract buyers and sellers it must have slicker systems. I have left bids ok but to pay 2 invoices turned out to be a marathon and this picture problem leaves me dismayed. I list from 5 - 10 new items daily on ebay, all listed singely and can manage this without problems. My intention was to do the same here, post flyers to my ebay customers and cross pollinate. Its no good having just a I don't wish to join a concourse of sellers.

Can you tell us the file sizes of the images you were having trouble with.

What problems did you find with the payment process. If you were invoiced it should be a single click and the either pppay or paypal payment form.

    Thanks

Hi, Thank you for you interest.

I reduced the photograph to way below 500 using Serif Photoplus 6. This worked and I was eventualy able to list the pic. Reading through other postings today I have learned to refresh by clicking F5 and my disappeared pic has reappeared, so I feel a litle better on this issue but I will try and do bulk shortly. I suppose my grouse on this issue is that I would expect a seamless listing process rather than having to compress and press F5 etc. This sounds a bit 'fast food' but I could be described as computer litererate and I have found the whole process confusing.

In regard to paying, I have a pay-pal account and tried to pay from this site on AAL, the button would not link to pay-pal, I went direct into my pay-pal account, and left an instruction to pay the seller's email address an amount of money as a non ebay auction payment. The payment did not register. Eventually I was able to link through AAL button.

I will persevere but my confidence level at the moment is quite low, my expectations may be to high but my buying last month with ebay was some 1.5k this was my 1st month and my selling was equally as high. Mostly the transactions were seamless. I would like to do the same business levels here.

    Hi Les,
what you need to speed up the process is a batch image resizer, that will resize all your images in one go, you can find a list of them here
    http://www.photo-freeware.net/resizing-batch-tools.php

I find the listing process faster here than on eBay, because you don't have to trawl through so many pages per listing.

You can also speed up listing by setting up defaults, if you go to My eBid>my Defaults the second section is Auction Defaults.

    Hope this helps

    Hi, and welcome to ebid.

When you download your pics from your camera do you edit them at all? By this I mean cut out parts of the pic you dont want etc. If you do - when you save the new pic, simply save it as a JPEG. When saving the pic -use the save file as option- and just scroll down to JPEG. This will bring the file size down to a few kb but I find still keeps the quality.

    Secondly bulkuploading:
The easiest way to add pics is to use a storage platform (www.photobucket.com is my favorite - its free, easy and you can upload dozens of pics at once). Simply upload your pics (press browse add the file where your pics are and it does it for you) and it will provide you with a URL for them. When you complete the bulkupload spreadsheet just click on the URL of your pic and it will copy it for you. Click on the URL section of the spreadsheet and paste. Hey presto.

It sounds really long winded but it actually isnt. It takes me about 5 mins to upload 20 pics (including loading time), copy and paste the URL.

Hope I've explained this OK. If its confusing mail me and I'll try again...lol!
