Link To Royal Mail
On this and other boards one common topic is overpriced P&P rates.
One thing that occured to me is would there be a problem with my mentioning the weight of each item in my listing, and include a link to the Royal Mail website. That way people could see that they weren't being ripped off. (I normally add the price of packaging to the postage and round up to the nearest 10p). Any views on this would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello lofty100e I alway put the "wrapped weight less than" on just all of my listings, it is a guide only because of the way PiP is priced, a 300g novel could be small packet at £1.39 but a 650g annual may only be £1.09 large letter (in a Jiffy) the Royal mail looked hard at how to catch the most "fish" when they introduced the PiP....
Thanks Bloxbooks, most of the items I am selling are paperbacks so they would come under packets. I am lucky, in that I work with a receptionist, who from what I have read knows more about the new system than some who work for the PO. That is worrying.
Doesant packaging cost you any outlay and fuel getting to the post office, you need to account for these expences.
Now i have to pay to park outside post office.
It was a big increse last August, for books must be hard to make a profit on them now.
I mentioned in my original post that I add the cost of the packaging to the postage cost. As for transport costs, I have a bus pass which is pre-paid so there are no added on costs there.
Yes it was/is a big rip off. I suspect that maybe why there are less sales. Personally I've not had any sales here on ebid yet. I came over from the dark side because what with the fee-avoidance crowd it was impossible to make any sales.
on ebay, I've started to add the item weight to listings- that way people can see exactly how much I'm ripping them off for, sorry, I meant charging them :-)

Re cost of postage
I have noticed on feepay, many traders have upped the P & P cost disproportionately, this is to try and avoid ebay costs. ie start bidding at .01p; p & p 3.50p for something which costs .32p to send first class. This doesn't apply so much here.
