As those sellers operating here and on the other side know only too well, "location abuse" is a very hot topic over there and is realling P-ing off the buyers (as well as the sellers)
The term "abuse" refers to misrepresentation of item location - the most common being listing it as (examples) - San Francisco UK, or Singapore UK, or even China United Kingdom. This impacts the search by location facility, and the default browse results.
As eBid expands, it is starting to be seen here - I've already had a few non-UK buyers complain "Oh I thought you were in my country when I placed the bid" - LOL - I'm not even in the one they then accuse me of being in.
PROPOSAL - could we have a tightening up on the details in the Auction Headers please?
There are 3 locations needed to be shown -
- eBid home site for user
- Country of residence (not nationality) of user
- Country where the goods are located
The first two can be pulled automatically from the users registration details, but the seller has to manually select the third one. If they are not all the same, then it should warn the buyer that they have to read the description more carefully to verify where the goods are coming from ..... yes I know this will impact every one of my own auctions, yes I know it may slow sales for some people, but I feel it's possibly the best way to jump on this before it gets to the point (like on the other side) where it is dominating the forums - primarily with complaints from buyers, and damages the site's reputation.
