Google to buy YouTube?

Google is currently in talks to snatch up YouTube for $1.6 billion, TechCrunch is reporting. The blog's source says discussions are taking place and there is still a possibility the deal may not go through.
Google refused to comment on the rumor, and YouTube was not available for comment, according to a follow-up item in the Wall Street Journal.
Visitors to YouTube, founded in February 2005 by Steve Chen and Chad Hurley, watch more than 100 million videos a day.

Google's nearly $1.7 billion deal to buy YouTube, announced Monday, is just the latest flexion of the Mountain View-based company's muscle.

It's too early to comment on what this may or may not mean for Google Video, or to YouTube users, but the acquisiton is pretty amazing - both for its pricetag, and the speed to which it rose to those heights.....Based on rough calculations, YouTube was able to grow its valuation by $2.6 million every day since its launch in February 05.
