Default Me serious for a change

I have been in business for over 30 years in one form or another and due to ill health have had to semi retire before I made my fortune(ahhhh!) but what I am seeing here is dissapointing to say the least.
I love this site and the people on it BUT business is business and we all want to make a few quid, this I am not seeing no fault of the boys running it you need lots and lots of money to promote a site and to be frank (just for the day )this site can not generate the revenue fast enough to justify a large expenditure of hard earned money - but - also can not afford not to,what with all (100's)the other sites out there plying for your business. Somthing very special has to happen :- lots of buyers and lots of sellers have to get here at roughly the same time or theres no activity ,just the same old stuf ,the same old buyers , the same old sellers, with the odd newbe droping in -being unsuccesfull droping out or just leaving a few auctions up just in case.
I have come to this conclusion through several months of observation, and running 4 auction houses at the same time.
I have 52 auctions running here and just a few really great customers that have supported me (thanks guys!) on greed-bay I have 6 auctions running (same product as here) that are more expensive higher postage/packing to make up for high fees but have made twice as much profit with just 6 single auctions no shop no fancy bits and easy to use.
But the other two auctions i use are worse than usless so they are now gone and I am looking further afield and am going to post 12 auctions per site to see what happens up until christmas.I would love this site to come out on top -but ??? who knows.
Last bit of this post ,"what about the boys selling shares in the site but only to sellers and the proceeds going into a promotion kitty??"
ANY MORE IDEA'S cos somthings got to happen before we loose momentum and everybody drifts back to greedbay ,because I can't survive on what I make elsewhere.

I agree it has been dissapointing and many ex eBayers have pushed this site on the other side, and been slapped for doing it, and would like to see more from eBid, however if I can reply on a more positive note, no one said that this would be easy or that we would see immediate results on other sites. To those who have withdrawn listings already I would say go and list again. It doesn't cost anything and unless buyers can find a good selection, the sites will not hold their interest. If you turned up at the local shop to find three things on the shelf what would you think. For goodness sake give it some time.

I have my prints duplicated on several sites, and appreciate that this may be more difficult for those that buy in stuff that is always different, and that may be a problem. If however you buy in 10 of something, at least keep one on the shelf on eBid. None of them are going to get bigger if you chuck the towel in and slink of back to Greedbay, this is what has happened in the past. Keep pushing the opposition and entice the buyers away from eBay, that is the only way it can be done.

I've not been selling on eBay, so it is no loss not to list there, but I am selling elsewhere. Even if Ebay was useful to me, I would still be pushing the others for all I was worth, else what the heck have we been wasting our time for these past two months. Ebay is definitely on the ropes and we need to escalate the pressure not take it off.

    Hi there,
I too feel the same, I have put my eBid URL onto my business cards and return address lables, have shoved leaflets through letterboxes and told all my friends and aquaintances about this site.

I feel like I am doing my bit, but I need some support from the site itself!! Please guys, speculate to accumulate!!

This is how I earn my living now, so it's make or break- unfortunately I have to go back to fleaBay, I have to utilise every option to feed my babies...

Hi Soapy, it's kind of sad, cos this site should be doing well, without some promotion it's going nowhere really. I was wanting to look at your soaps etc for Christmas and noticed you didn't have any on (when I looked). I don't want to have to buy through greedbay though so are you going to have your own website in the future?

The BF and I are planning to do just that. Two web addys linked so it's like the first and second floor of a shop (in my head) with the auctions on ebid and taz as the bargain basements.

I think it should work ok but we need time to build up stock for a website so not planning to have that open until April-ish. Just waiting for stock to arrive so I can fill up his ebid shop for him and then I'll get him onto taz as well.
