    Default Some advice needed.....again...

I have receieved a card from the post office telling me I have to pick up a parcel...and pay £11.50 because the sender/seller hasn't paid the correct postage.

What would you do. This surcharge is more than the item cost in the first place with postage added

I'd ask them what happens if you don't pay it, will it be returned to sender? if so, the sender could then put the correct amount on & post it back, or return your money. (assuming it was an auction win)

My auctions, good prices, fair p&p.

An afterthought, surely it was weighed by the Post Office & the postage determined by them, so it would be their mistake.

Ask the post office to return to sender as you are not willing to fork out such an extreme postage amount when you have more than likely paid the postage anyway. Why pay the second time round?

I once fell for that but it was a minor amount something like £1.27 or something stupid, so I paid it, then I told the seller I wanted the difference and they refused to give me the money because I had accepted the goods, and intimated I was lying, I told them I had a slip from the post office I will send it them, (post office really did give me a slip) the person made out the post office don't give slips out for underpaid carriage, I asked them if they had experience of this before, and they never responded.

Could be the label has come off, I would contact the sender to let her know what has happened and see if she had a proof of posting receipt.

    Thanks,

I think I'll ring the sorting office tomorrow and ask if theres a return address...just to make sure its what I think it is...If it is that parcel then I will ask them to return it to the sender.

Why is everything in life so complicated..????

Rang the sorting office this morning...they won't tell me who its from over the phone. So I have to get a bleeding bus and go take a look....and the sorting office is only open to the public for a couple of hours each morning...

Drat....or some other four letter word.....

I once got a neutral on t'other side (why don't peeps email you if there's a problem?) because the buyer had to fork out for the postage on an item, when I already paid for the postage at my end! The problem? Blooming postmaster hadn't stuck the stamp on properly!

So after that, I used to buy sheets of stamps and stick them on myself and half cover the stamps with sellotape!

If I were you, I'd ask if the seller could meet you halfway with the cost (they may not realise there's a problem!), they may refund or recompense you with something else. Make sure you get a receipt from the P. Off.!
