i agree its frustrating with getting no views, i will upload a lot more tonight,

is it possible to have a link to your listings in your sig if you haven't got a shop on here?

I've also started to list on cqout, but from a thread i read over on ebay, they have less than 2% of the market, less than ebid!?

I think we have to be careful not to e-mail past customers unless they have opted in to our mailing lists or it could backfire. (spamming)

That is the main reason I've opted for the flyer in the packet approach

Like I said earlier... Whether stuff sells immediately or not, if enough of us list enough items on Ebid, eventually people will come. Search engines, flyers, emails, and word of mouth will see to it.

Well... that's what I think anyway ... Put enough variety and quantity in the same place, at good prices, and people will come.

In the meantime carry on listing on Ebay, etc... and use sales there to drive traffic here.

Hi, can you explain spamming to me? am not sure i understand?...... many ebiddyers are emailing their customer base of the past to let them know they can buy from them on ebid, is this not allowed?

I have an email prepared and am trying to upload all email addresses from paypal account so I can tell them that I am moving my business, just want to be aware of what could happen to me if I do this....... is it breaking the law? please excuse me if I am being thick but am fairly new to having a shop on ebay and after 2 months the fee rises have caused me to have a major rethink about how i am going to run my business!!!!! thanks in advance to any replies ;-)

Sure you can - on the right hand site of the forum is an option to Search eBid Users - enter your user name and a whole list of your listings will come up - highlight the link in the address bar and use that in your signature ;-)

Can't understand why you don't get a shop though - it is free ....

No, legally it is not allowed.

When you sign up for eBay in the small print and as part of their policies you agree not to misuse the information you gather as part of the trade and comply with any relevant legislation.

On eBay when someone buys from you they are given the option to 'subscribe' to further communications from you and these 'subscribers' are the only people you are legally allowed to contact again.

However, a lot of people are totally ignoring this and emailing buyers because they do have their email addresses. They are also relying on nobody reporting them to eBay or have closed their eBay accounts anyway so who cares?!

I have thought long and hard about this myself. On one hand I think it will just be the one time and who will know? But then I think how I would feel if I received such an email and as I really hate spam I would probably be really racked off! Given that I have spent the last 10 years at work promoting the Data Protection Act, etc., it would be really hypocritcal of me to do this. At the end of the day I decided not to email my old buyers in case it totally put them off ever buying me again. I should mention I still have an eBay shop and apart from sending the emails I'm doing much the same as everyone else to drive traffic to eBid.

At the end of the day it is your decision whether you email your old buyers or not bearing in mind it is highly unlikely you will get caught but at least I hope I've helped you understand the pros and cons.

I am also a greedbay refugee. I have opened a store which sadly has not attracted many buyers yet, a few lookers, but only one buyer.

I have a very good feedback rating on the other site, shame it cannot be transferred. I have filled in the "My All About" page and added the ebid link to the same page on the other site. My postage is fair, my descriptions clear, my photos are good, and I have even signed up to the PPPay thingy. I will do the leaflet idea for each sale, that is a good idea.

    Any other suggestions.
