Listing Description Error Message

I'm exasperated! Managed to list 60 or so of my 250 listings. Now I keep getting an error message that the description has more the 40000 characters!! UGH. I'm listing each item as sell similar & amending the top 8-10 lines with the new item details & leaving the bottom section unchanged as this details my payment/posting terms etc. There's no way I have more than 40k characters! I've tried saving it with just the basic description & then going in to amend & add the rest but it still says I have too many characters.
Any ideas?

I'm just creating my first listing and I'm getting the same problem. I copied and pasted my text into MS Word and the word count there shows that I have around 20,000 characters, so it has me stumped.

Hi, I think there may be a problem at the moment as the auctions are not relisting either I have lost 155 up to now, I would hang on untill later if i where you.

I've just tried again with one of the 'problem' listings & it's worked fine this time. Think it's a glitch in the system so will try again with some of the others.
