AOL have got to be one of the worst isp's they take over your p.c.! I'm with Euro1net, they are very good and cheap (£10 per month), but you have to pay two years up front.

I'm with Wanadoo which has just become Orange but I think it is expensive. Trouble is we have the wireless network up and running and I'm scared to change it.

I was with NTL, but I got so fed up whenever I had a problem and I had to ring them, I found the customer services very poor, when you actually managed to get hold of someone! The last time I rang them I was told to ring another day as the person I was speaking to was unable to help me then they put the phone down on me!

I am now with TalkTalk as £20.99 a month with free calls and your line rental included in that, you cannot go wrong, the only downside was my modem arrived 5 days after the date they stated, when I complained they sent me another one! So know I have 2 modems, I'm not quite sure what I am meant to do with the spare one.

I'm with NTL and love it. Occasionally something goes wrong and you're left hanging on the phone for 40 minutes until they answer you - but if you persevere, you'll get sorted out. In fact come to think of it, the only NTL problems I've really have were with the TV service - the Internet stuff just works. I pay a bit more than most, but then I have a 10MB connection which rocks, BTW

Depending on how far you are from your exchange you may be limited to what speed you can actually get, while this restriction does not apply to Telewest/NTL customers. Even with the merger with NTL, who do have certain download limits on certain tariffs, they still claim to leave your speeds alone. Unfortunately they are not available in my area. I have just recently been able to get 8MB lol and I live virtually on top of the Exchange !!

Always check your terms and conditions before signing up to a new ISP as most say Unlimited Downloads, but this doesn't mean they cant cap your speed for certain traffic, which would still allow you to download what you want, but at a greatly reduced speed. And yes, that is legal, if they have stated that in the T&C's.

I don't get my hand slapped as I don't do mega downloads 8MB suits me fine (at the moment)
