Thread: Ebid Lister

  1. #1

    Default Ebid Lister

Can Ebid Lister be made to take up more space, as I don't think anybody uses an 800 x 600 screen any more (and for those that do, it would create its own scrollbars anyway).
When you go to list an item, the window is so small that you have to scroll the category window all the time. Turbo Lister used to be ridiculously small too, but after only two or three years (sarcasm) Feepay managed to fix that problem.

Now, having used Ebid Lister (I haven't actually uploaded an auction with it yet, but I've created one), can anybody explain to me how using a lister is any faster than using the website? I prefer using the site - the page shows much more information, you don't have to keep mousing to view all the different tabs, and I prefer it!

I tried it and i dont think its any faster especialy when i tried to save it to a folder on my computer ready to email it, it went berserk. mind you that could be me.

Do you think it would be faster if it did work though, Buttons and Bows? That's the bit I don't quite get, if it isn't any faster, what is the point of using it? I would have thought that all the options that a Lister offers can just as easily (more easily, as it's only HTML code) be put on the website, instead of in a separate program.
Are there any data entry operations (gosh that sounds technical!) that you avoid by using a Lister? I can't think of any offhand.

The only thing i could think of was that you could list when you like during the week and early mornings and then up load them at the time you wanted them to go on like turbo lister , but i realise that isn't so. I wasnt aware that you had to mail them in, so no, and i will carry on doing my listings on the site untill something better comes along.. I havent tried the spreadsheet cause i didnt like the look of it.

I am also used to Turbo and decided to try lister, I found it quite limited and when it came to exporting, I got an error message, something about JIT which I didn't understand.
I think it is to do with me not having Excel at home, I am used to spreadsheets but I use Works at home

I will have to list individually at the moment but hope to find an answer as I usually list a lot in one go. I really would like Ebid to be a success.
Turbo has been a real help to me much more than Ebay.

But I don't see how putting all the auction data into Ebid Lister is any quicker than putting it all directly into the site.
All you would need to do to make it virtually the same would be to have a page where instead of actually starting the listing, you just 'saved' it to your 'saved listings' page, then you could pick auctions from there and start them all at the same time, just by ticking a box next to the ones you wanted to start.
I still can't see how a listing program can be any better than listing on the site - can anybody who uses the lister (or uploads spreadsheets) enlighten me? Do you save time by not having to re-enter certain data (that's the only thing I can imagine, but this could be set up on the site in the same way no doubt).

I know it is only in beta version, but at the moment the lister seems to need an ancient version of the .NET framework, and any other programs I download/install are likely to need a more recent version.

The usual procedure when writing software is to ensure that the system software is AT LEAST no earlier than the version it will run on.
