Thread: Just come from the other side, LOL, my opinions

Default Just come from the other side, LOL, my opinions

    Hi everyone

I have just joined today and I am still with (you know who) but thought I'd give it a go!

I am the largest seller on (you know who) for Tarot Cards and I must admit it took me ages to navigate my way through this maze, but did it in the end, (although it must be off putting to most poeple).

    My opinions are as follows:

    1) Most people I know use Paypal and don't want to mess around opening yet another account with another company. I tried to find info on this on your site but it just says if the customer clicks 'instant' they can pay through Paypal, can I ask how they will know my Paypal id etc to pay me?
    2) When listing, the uploading of photo's is soooooo time consuming, isn't there a quicker way?
    3) When describing the item everyone likes to use other colours, and yes I did figure it out in the end, but again time consuming for a Java window to open and pick your colours etc for each individual colour. Can't you have some main colours just listed to make it easier.
    4) Would be loads easier to have just buy it now listings as it looks stupid having to put say £19.98 as a starting price then £19.99 to buy now, this would put customers off I would presume.

Anyway I'm going to try you for a month and see how it goes, I sell around 400 items at present on (you know who) and I also run my own forum where I have a lot of friends. We had already been talking about your site and maybe changing but they have left me to try it! LOL. Only because some of them can't afford to spend money on a trial, but this is my business full-time.
We also have another shop too which sells Official Football Merchandise so maybe I'll bring that over too if all goes well.

Anyway hope all goes well for the auction site and me LOL.

I'm sure you will be improving soon, well hope!

Hi & welcome, To answer your points as i see them.

I guess any new site would look like a maze until you learn to find your way around.

On an item listing, you can state that you accept paypal, when an item sells, the buyer is sent an invoice with your email addy, this will enable them to pay you.

I actually find loading pics on here far quicker & easier than the other side, also they stay in your gallery, so this helps if you want to find a pic you loaded a couple of months ago, in order to use it again, you just click to add it to your auction.

If everything was listed as a buy now, it wouldn't be an auction site, it would be a shop.

Coloured text is unimportant, if your item is wanted & the price & p&p are right, people won't decline to bid just because you didn't colour the text.

So, hope that helps, good luck with your auctions, i hope you like it here once you get the hang of where everything is.

My auctions, good prices, fair p&p.

    Hi.

I think the points you raise are valid but they were probably the same issues we had when we first used the other side.

I think the main reason why people are having problems getting used to the site is the speed. Its just too slow to do anything. People generally have a short attention span and are giving up trying to learn the site because it takes too long to do anything.

I really want to buy on here believe me but i just give up because its too slow responding.

Sort the speed issue out and i think the other problems will become irrelevant.

Hi, I have a problem with the speed when i us IE but not on firefox.... ebay also has problems with the speed at times espesialy on a free listing day and everyday is a free listing day here , so i would rather wait a few seconds longer

Re the colours problem - just type into your HTML 'color=red', or 'color=blue', etc.
There is a list of standard HTML colours here:

    http://halflife.ukrpack.net/csfiles/help/colors.shtml

If you only use four or five, it should be easy to just write their names down, to save having to keep looking at another webpage.

Re the uploading images problem - I find it MUCH quicker than on Ebay, as is listing- you don't have to go through three or four different screens with the rest of the listing either.

Re Paypal - Ebid doesn't own Paypal (Ebay do) so they can't integrate it with the site, which is why they have PPPay.com. PPPay.com also offers a decent escrow service, which Paypal does not.

Re what mark9930 said about site speed, I haven't had any problems really, some pages have taken a second or two to load, instead of being lightning fast. I have Blueyonder and use Firefox, if that's any help.
