Thread: New Website ( replaced Old One )

  1. #1

Default New Website ( replaced Old One )

Remember a while back I had a website I told you all about scotlist.cjb etc . Well I realised that was a bit tacky and not very well done so I had a proper bash at it this time and creted a proper website.

It is the same idea as last time you can buy and sell for free it is straight forward sales not auctions or things like that, just a seller says a price and a buyer says yes or no.

I have made it only for my City and the surrounding areas so I can keep control of it all. I would be happy to expand if the initial site goes well.

It is free and just a but of fun so here it is

    www.sell-local.co.uk

thanks and tell me your opinions and comments after you have looked at it.

Nice, plain and simple, no glaring colours which is good

your home and garden link would not work for me, all the others were fine.

    Nice soothing colours. Pete.

Only problem I encountered was apart from the Home page and the Help page that lets you IN, there is no return to home/help/previous page links.

You have to hit the back broswer on every page to come out. It tends to be a bit faffy, you get sick after a while, it does not flow

    Good Luck

If you don't mind, who are you using to host your site?

That's a much nicer site - well done
How about something on the home page to show which areas you cover (i.e Stirling only? or Stirling, Falkirk etc..)

Your leaflet and flyers idea is very good - especially for a local site. Have you considered handing some out at the 'Big in Falkirk' wekend coming up on 29th and 30th April?. You should also leave some in your local library.

Making the 'add a listing' page a template with easy to complete boxes will encourage people to list. You could even allow people to save a partially completed version of the template onto their own PCs so they can email them from there.

Sending listings by excel file would appeal to me

I did not say it was not appropriate I said it did not work, ie click on the title and it comes up with page not found, thus link not working.

    Just a little glitch methinks
