Farley’s recalls soya formula
Thursday 16 March 2006
Farley’s has withdrawn from sale a single batch of Farley’s Soya Formula in 900g cans, because routine testing has shown it contains cows' milk, although the product is labelled as suitable for a milk and lactose-free diet.
Around 500 cans are affected but as a precautionary measure Farley’s has withdrawn the whole batch.

Those with babies who are allergic to or intolerant of cows' milk and dairy products are advised not to use this product but to contact Farley’s on 08000 151 557.

The withdrawal affects Farley’s Soya Formula in 900g cans, with a best before date of 1 February 2008 and the batch number 607D on the base of the can. No other products are known to be affected.

The level of milk found in the product is 500 parts per million (ppm) and could cause a reaction in babies who are allergic to milk.

Parents/carers may choose to use soya formula for a number of reasons. However, Government advice is that soya-based formula should only be used on the recommendation of a health professional.
Farley’s has launched a full investigation and has already initiated further quality and testing procedures.
