Thread: Are you a plant killer?

I'm always killing plants - it's become a standing joke in my family that I'm incapable of keeping one alive for more than a couple of weeks!

Last year though, I got a joke present of a frog that you stick in the plant pot and that croaks when the plant needs watering.

I'ts worked a treat, the noise is so annoying I always end up watering it and the plant is still going strong over a year later!

(and plastic ones)
Now don't get TOO excited Mel, but I think I know what your plant problem is! You say the sun shines in the house from all directions? Well, the worst thing you can do is water a plant in full sunlight! Its guaranteed to kill it! In the summer I keep my plants alive longer (outside and in,) by watering as the sun goes down. If you water onto sun-baked earth, it gives the plant a shock to the system and they will die!
So, try watering in the evenings, putting water into the drip tray, and I think you'll see the difference!! Good luck!

    lol @ Percy Thrower!!
Put the rose bush in a cool room (like bathroom/toilet?) out of sun and away from heating. Its worth a try if its saveable.

My mum's fine with outdoor plants, but never manages to keep them long indoors.

Once I bought her a resurrection plant - one that looked like a dry birds nest, add water and it thrives, as it dries out it just returns to a bundle of dry stuff. It was SUPPOSED to be very hardy but not hardy enough! It did not survive either

Unfortunately my mum doesn't do "technology" (she's to old she says ) so emails/text/glowing or remote control wouldn't help her
