Real Life report from a pub in Pattaya Thailand .......

A British expat was sitting in the Irish Pub on Pattaya's Beach Road enjoying a quiet beer and watching the world pass by outside. Another European walked in and said something in German.
The Bar staff looked at each other, obviously not understanding what was said, and giggled before smiling at the newcomer, then asking (in Thai) what he'd said.

This played out for around 10 minutes using German and Thai until finally the newcomer in very precise, perfectly enunciated English requested one very cold bottle of Heineken and a chilled glass.

As the German took his beer outside to the veranda, a voice from the other side of the Englishman was heard to say "Two World Wars and a World Cup - you'd think they'd have learned by now that Deutsch is kaput when overseas"

The Englishman swung around on his seat to be confronted by an ear to ear grin on the face of an 85 year old Japanese tourist, who winked at him then ordered more beer for them both.

    (TRUE story)
