Question Negative feedback for fake goods

I recently won an auction for a DVD that, on arrival, appears to be a pirated copy. The seller had already left me positive feedback for prompt payment but I left him negative feedback on the grounds of the item being an illegal copy. Now he is emailing me directly wanting an explanation of why I left bad feedback, and offering a replacement disc! Does anyone have a standard procedure to follow for this kind of blatantly idiotic behaviour?

Put his/her email address in your spam folder and ignore them. If at some point they decide to change their feedback to a negative then contact support stating it was a copied DVD and neg feedback was retailitory (sorry 4 spelling lol) and they will change it for you

Does the seller habitually sell fake DVDs? or could this be a one off thet the seller didnt realisse was in his stock?

Assuming there is no other evidence of selling pirated copies; If the seller has offered you a (genuine) replacement I would accept then if appropriate change your feedback once you have inspected the replacement disc.

I've just looked up the seller. The item bid on is :

26 Queen Albums on DVD.including Covers and Posters.

This is clearly a copy as no artists releases 26 of their full items plus artwork on one DVD. especially at a price of £1.00!! . Whilst the seller is in the wrong for selling copied music - his auction description appears pretty accurate. What exactly were you expecting to receive?

I was expecting to receive a secondhand CD/DVD. I often sell my old ones for starting bid of £1.00 and they are all original. I apologise if I'm not as up to date on what is or isn't the 'norm' for what artists release these days. However, it doesn't excuse the fact that the seller is passing off fake goods. Copied CDs etc are the product of copright theft - doesn't that make the purchasers guilty of receiving stolen goods? Looking at feedback left by others for similar goods simply highlights how many people are prepared to receive 'stolen' goods. I simply don't want to be party to that and think I am well within my right to request a refund and highlight the source of the illegal goods.

Further to above - seller has now refunded my £4.50 payment, for which I am grateful. My lesson has been learned... ASK IF THE ITEM IS GENUINE BEFORE BIDDING.

    Default Fake Goods

I always follow the rule that if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.
Take the "rolex" watches found on front page sometimes as an example
